Danielle Hoffman Makes MCLA Dean’s List
Danielle Hoffman of Stephentown was placed on the Dean’s List at Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts (MCLA) for the spring 2010 semester. To be eligible for the Dean’s Honor List, matriculated students must be enrolled in six or more credit courses, attain a grade point average of 3.25 or better and have no incomplete grades.

Stephentown ZBA Approves Motocross

Following meetings in May and June at which public comments were heard, most of them negative, regarding a proposed Motocross field in the southern end of the town, the Stephentown Zoning Board of Appeals moved quickly at their meeting on July 1 to grant the requested zoning variance. Joseph Champion, presiding in deference from the regular Chair, Jack Liebenow, who had been absent from the previous meetings, made clear at the start that there would be no public comments heard at this meeting.

Letter To The Editor – Triumph Over Democracy
To the Editor:
On July 1, three days before the celebration of our own Declaration of Independence over the tyranny of King George, I had the great displeasure to witness one of the most shocking displays ever of a local government’s trampling on the rights of the entire Town, by secretly passing (in public) a use variance from “Residential-1” to “Commercial/Industrial” in the New Lebanon Speedway’s proposed motocross/motorcycle and dirt bike track to be built in the southern part of Stephentown off of Webster Hill Road – a very small dirt road coming off of Route 20, right next to New Lebanon and East Nassau.
