Large Crowds Disappointed By County Inaction

Like the previous monthly meeting, when the legislature replaced their leadership by selecting a new chairman, the October regular meeting was far from a normal meeting. For the second time in less than a week, the chambers of the Rensselaer County Legislature were packed with concerned residents predominantly from the towns of Stephentown, Nassau, Sand Lake and Schodack.  They all were there for one reason: to plead with the legislature to adopt legislation that would help in protecting their drinking water from possible damage from the proposed Kinder-Morgan gas pipeline that will be located in their towns if approved. Stephentown Town Board Action

Town Budget Currently At 3.89% Tax Increase – Not Final Yet

The Stephentown Town Board has been discussing the 2016 Budget for the past several weeks. There was a public workshop on October 12 and the Board’s regular workshop meeting the following week. On Saturday, October 24 Brown’s Brewing and CiviCure are excited to present Farm to Canvas, an event combining the profound pleasure of collecting art with the excitement of a lottery where every ticket holder is a winner. The goal of Farm to Canvas is to grow the audience for original artwork while supporting the restoration of Hoosick Falls’ Wood Block Opera House. Since 1880, Wood Block has housed two extraordinary exhibition and performance spaces. What’s Happening At Stephentown Memorial Library?

Story Time – Fridays at 10 am.  Calling all preschoolers (and their caregivers)! Join us each Friday for some story time fun! In this half-hour session, we read aloud, sing songs, move about, and explore the world around us through literature.
