Stephentown Developing A Comprehensive Plan

The Stephentown Comprehensive Plan Committee is moving ahead with developing a master plan for the Town. At the Town Board meeting on July 20 Councilman PJ Roder reported that over 1,500 copies of a survey had been sent out to residents. Extra copies are available at the Town Clerk’s Office.

Roder noted that there would be a public workshop meeting on July 27 and the Committee is looking for input from residents as to what things are most important and what subcommittees will be needed. One subcommittee will definitely be set up to focus on the issue of emergency services which he said is becoming a major problem everywhere. The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) hosted scoping meetings in Rensselaer County on July 14 and 15. The meetings’ purpose was to gather information on the scope of adverse environmental impacts that the Northeast Energy Direct (NED) pipeline project may have on water, air, farms, historic preservation, wildlife, trees, green fields, health, safety and on the socio-economic status of residents and their communities. Free Breakfast & Lunch for kids – through July 31.  We are pleased to have been chosen as a feeding site for this federally funded program.  We will be serving a healthy breakfast and lunch each weekday. Breakfast will be from 8:30 -9:30 am and Lunch will be from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm in the community room.  There is no charge and no income or residency requirement.  All children under age 18 are encouraged to take advantage of this program.
