Hoosick Falls Musicians Selected For The Lions Youth Band

Seven musicians from the Hoosick Falls Central School band were selected to perform with the MD-20 Lions Youth band. This band is selected from all over New York State and the Island of Bermuda. Bermuda is part of the Long Island Lions District.

HFCS Senior Awards Night

Hoosick Falls Junior/Senior High School will be holding its annual Senior Awards Night for graduating seniors. Senior Awards Night will be held on Thursday, June 23, at 7 pm in the Jr./Sr. High School Auditorium.  If you are interested in giving a new award, or if you would like to attend to present your current award, please contact the Counseling Center at 686-7321 ext. 1510 by June 9.

HFCS Budget Proposes A 2.5% Tax Levy Increase

A Public Hearing on the Hoosick Falls School District’s budget for the 2011-12 school year was held at the school on May 5. Total spending is $762,000 less than last year, which brings it under $20 million. State aid for operating expense will pay $7.824 million of that, which is $892,600 (a little over 10%) less than last year. The local tax levy will be $8,740,410, which is 2.5% or $213,415 more than last year. This is the first budget in recent memory in which the local tax levy will contribute more to the budget than will State operating aid.

Panther Baseball Clobbers Granville

Wednesday in Hoosick Falls was a tough day for visiting Granville (2-6 in league play) as they got clobbered 16-2 by an improving Panther baseball team. HFCS PTA Meeting

The next business meeting of the HFCS PTA will take place on Wednesday, May 18, in the Elementary School Library beginning at 6:30 pm.
As always, members and non-members are encouraged to join meetings to find out what the PTA is doing for our children and to share ideas for special programs and events to benefit the children and families of our school District.

Team Spirit T-Shirts For Hoosick Falls Elementary School

Once again, the Hoosick Falls Elementary School Physical Education staff is looking for sponsors for the Team Spirit Shirt Fund for this school year. This fund will supply team T-shirts for students to have during our annual Field Days held at the end of the school year. As we did last year, each child will be able to keep his or her shirt.

Hoosick Falls Elementary School Is Accepting Universal Pre-Kindergarten Applications

The Hoosick Falls Central School District is currently looking for the Universal Pre-Kindergarten (UPK) class of 2011-2012. UPK is a special program established by the State Education Department to provide an early learning experience for the children of eligible families. Eligible families are defined as those who live in the Hoosick Falls School District and have children who will be four years old on or before December 1, 2011.
