Five students from the Class of 2010 at Hoosick Falls Central School recently attended a networking day in New York City where they met with four professionals who shared stories about their careers, offered advice on how to be successful and pledged to stay in contact with the students to help them plan their college and post-college careers.

Panther Football Team Advances To Sectional Semi-Final

Last Friday night, October 23, on Ken Baker Field, on a cold, rainy, windy, 41 degree night, Ron Jones’ Hoosick Falls Central School Panther football team overwhelmed Canajoharie Central School 36-0 in a Class C, Section 2 quarterfinal matchup. On a night more fit for ice fishing than football, Hoosick Falls dominated this game, with the only thing worse than waiting out the final score and the weather being the 75 mile trip back to Canajoharie.

Panther Football Wins Class C North Title; Sectional Game Friday

Last Friday night, October 16, Ron Jones’ Hoosick Falls Central School Panther football team took the long trek to Corinth Central School and beat the Tomahawks 21-7 to finish unbeaten in Class C Northern division, Section II play. At the Hoosick Falls School Board meeting on October 15, District Superintendent Ken Facin said that he had received communication from the State Education Department about the Governor’s proposal to reduce State aid to schools for the current year, which, if adopted, would mean that the income the District has budgeted in reliance on the State’s aid assurances may not be forthcoming. Halloween Kids Dance
The North Hoosick Fire Department will hold its annual Halloween Kids Dance on Friday, October 23, from 7 to 10:30 pm at the fire station on Rt. 22. Students ages 9 to 15 and who attend Hoosick Falls Central, Cambridge Central and St. Mary’s Academy are invited to attend this dance. Costume judging will take place, and prizes will be awarded for the best five costumes. Costumes are optional. Parents are reminded to be on time to pick up students and they must sign their child out after the dance.
Football Homecoming: It Doesn’t Get Any Better

Football doesn’t get any more exciting than last Friday’s homecoming game between HFCS and Cambridge HS for the Ken Baker Jug. Excitement built up through the week as everyone talked about the upcoming event. It was the game not to be missed by folks in either community. The late Ken Baker taught and coached at HF and Cambridge Schools. He was loved and respected by everyone who knew him. He produced championship teams at both schools. Possession of the Ken Baker Jug is a matter of pride, no doubt. Many of his former players were there to cheer on their teams.

Last Friday night, October 9, on a wet, foggy Ken Baker Field, the unbeaten Hoosick Falls Central School football team outlasted an unbeaten, error prone Cambridge Central School team 21-19 in a Class C Northern division showdown in the second annual Ken Baker Jug Game.
