Senior Awards Night At HFCS

Hoosick Falls Junior/Senior High School will be holding its first Senior Awards Night for the graduating seniors. Senior Awards Night will be held on Thursday, June 25, at 7 pm in the Jr./Sr. High School Auditorium. Behind superb defensive play, a solid team effort and the one hit, fifteen strikeout performance of freshman pitcher Rachel Quackenbush, Coach Charlie Weeden engineered the Hoosick Falls Central School softball team to a 1-0 victory over Lake George Central School for the Section II, Class CC championship this past Wednesday afternoon, June 3, at Clifton Commons in Clifton Park. Two HFCS Letters To President Obama Published

The kids in Terri Burdick’s third grade class at Hoosick Falls Central School responded to a request for Letters to President Obama just after he was elected, sending in their letters along with thousands of other kids ages 5 to 15 from across the country. The request came from authors Bill Adler and his son Bill Adler Jr., who were putting together a book of such letters. Adler Sr. put together a similar collection almost half a century ago when President Kennedy was elected.

HFCS Pre-Licensing Course

Hoosick Falls Central School will sponsor the 5-Hour Prelicensing Class needed to take the NYS Driver’s test on Thursday, June 4. Registration begins at 4:30 pm in the High School Office with the class following promptly at 5 pm. A valid NYS learner’s permit and a $35 registration fee are required. HFCS Voters Pass Budget Handily

The Hoosick Falls School District’s budget passed by a vote of 533 to 176. The bus proposition passed by a vote of 496 to 172. Laurie Gormley was re-elected to another term on the School Board with 522 votes, and newcomer Ryerson Mausert, 3rd was elected to the School Board with 484 votes.
