On Saturday, October 10, the HFCS PTA held its fifteenth annual Fall Festival with HFCS bustling with over 400 attendees with vendors selling their wares, kids doing craft projects, some amazing pumpkin displays, and everyone enjoying baked goods made by many volunteers and food provided by The Frying Dutchman. The Lady Panthers got another win last week, so they were tied for the league lead with Mechanicville as this week began, with identical 11 – 1 records, with both teams having one league game left to play. For the third straight year, the Panthers are league champions, a major feat in any sport. HFCS field hockey, led by head coach Denise Campbell, has been very successful. These girls know how to win because they are coached to win. With the league championship secured, they will be aiming for their third straight year as Section II champions. With seven starters out due to injuries or illness, the HFCS Panthers gave the Corinth Tomahawks all the game they could handle. The shorthanded team did everyhing they could to secure an important victory but in the end a win slipped away and probably a spot in making the sectionals. The winning continues for Panther golfers with four players winning the Wasaren League invitational. On Friday (10/2/15), the Wasaren league played their invitational at the Country Club of Troy. HF 5 – Corinth 2
Corinth High, 9/30, HF (O) 10-0, (L) 8-0, Cor (O) 2-7. The Lady Panthers got out to a quick lead when Liz Ryan, with an assist from Ally Burdick, scored with less than one minute gone in the game. Burdick and Ryan both scored later in the half to give the Panthers a 3-1 lead at the break. After the Tomahawks scored an early second half goal, the Panthers scored twice more. Burdick, assisted by Megan Henry, scored first and an unassisted Ryan goal with 2:50 left capped the scoring. Cassie Sherman had five saves in goal while Corinth goalie A. Parnell recorded nine.
