HFCS PTA Fall Festival Is Saturday

This year’s PTA Fall Festival will be on Saturday, October 25, from 9 am to 3 pm at HFCS. Fall Festival has fun activities and games for kids including an old fashioned cake walk, the popular Animaland, Haunted Hall, and fabulous door prizes and raffle items. Back by popular demand is the clever and creative display of pumpkins decorated by HFCS teachers, where you vote for your favorite.

The HFCS Jazz Band will perform at 11 am and 1 pm. A Halloween theme movie for children will be screened in the elementary school cafeteria at 1 pm. In addition, the Lions Club is sponsoring free vision screening for children under the age of four and will have food on hand for sale.

HFCS Panthers Win Battle For First, 45 – 6

The HFCS Panther football team traveled to Greenwich last Friday evening to take on the Witches. At stake was first place in the northern division of Class C. If the Panthers lost there would be a first place tie between Hoosick Falls, Greenwich and Corinth. Each team would have one loss.

Panther Boys Soccer – Gaines On A Scoring Streak

The HFCS boys soccer team participated in the Maple Hill Tournament last Saturday and Monday. Things did not go well for the boys. Saturday they played Maple Hill in the first round, falling 3 – 0 to the hosts. In Monday’s consolation game against Christian Brothers Academy, the Panthers grabbed a 1 goal lead but couldn’t hang on as the Panthers fell 2 – 1. Tyler Gaines scored the lone goal for the Panthers, and Noah Chani recorded nine saves. CBA’s goalie recorded two.

A Masquerade Cabaret In Hoosick Falls

A Masquerade Cabaret will be held Saturday evening, November 1, at the HAYC3 Armory in Hoosick Falls. The show will begin at 7 pm. Panthers Beat Corinth, 30 – 7

The HFCS Panther football team hosted the Corinth Tomahawks last Friday evening. The Tomahawks came in with high hopes of winning the game. They were sporting a 3 – 1 record against quality opponents. They were averaging 350 yards per game on the ground. Their defense was keeping opponents out of the end zone.

It was decided to play the game anyway just in case Hoosick Falls could pull it out.

Hoosick Falls And Granville Central Schools Join To Tackle Hunger

The fourth annual Fill the Bus Food Drive benefiting the Hoosick Area Church Association (HACA) Food Pantry will take place in Hoosick Falls from October 14 to 17. The students of Hoosick Falls Central School (HFCS) are encouraged to bring food throughout the week. On Friday, October 17, at the HFCS Homecoming football game the bus will be open for the public to fill it up. This year Granville Central  School will be joining in to help “Tackle Hunger.”

The HACA Food Pantry serves the greater Hoosick Falls community by supplying food and toiletries to over 1,700 households per year. This year the Food Pantry has served over 24,000 meals thus far, and the holidays are quickly approaching.

Please come celebrate Homecoming and support those in need at the same time by helping to Fill the Bus.

Panther Golfers Headed To States

Hoosick Falls Central School golfers Eric Bloomer, Andrew Hoag and Ryan Bloomer represented HFCS at the Sectionals held at Ballston Spa Country Club on Tuesday, October 7. Eric Bloomer and Andrew Hoag qualified for the NY State Tournament that will begin at Orchard Creek, NY, on October 14.

The top twelve scorers qualified. Bloomer shot an 81, tied for second. Hoag shot an 86, tying him for the twelve spot. The winner, a player from Canajoharie, shot a 78. This will be Hoag’s first trip to State competition, for Bloomer it will be his second.

To get to the State qualifier, on Friday, October 3, the HFCS team competed in the League Invitational played at Troy Country Club. The Panthers were represented by Eric Bloomer, Andrew Hoag, Ryan Bloomer and Jake Nolan. The team had a fine showing in the Invitational, coming in third with a 253 score.

The Invitational was won by Hoosic Valley, with a 247 score. Greenwich placed second with a 248 score.

The 2014 WASAREN League Championship was claimed by undefeated Greenwich, with a 14 – 0 record. The Panther team came in second with a fine 12 – 2 record, with both losses coming at the hands of Greenwich. Hoosic Valley, Stillwater and Cambridge rounded out the top five.
