HFCS Girls Soccer Repeats As State Champions

When the Hoosick Falls Girls Soccer Team headed to Cortland as one of the final four vying for the NY State Soccer Championship last weekend, they were ready. Actually, they were looking forward more to the Saturday game than they were the finals. On Saturday they were playing Friends Academy, the team they shared the Championship title with last year. There would be no sharing this year.

HFCS Develops Exchange Program With Beijing China

Hoosick Falls Schools Superintendent Ken Facin said he has been working with the Beijing School system to develop an exchange program which would initially bring a group of Chinese students to Hoosick Falls to study but which might eventually allow Hoosick Falls students to study in China as well. Facin described a visit from Chinese representatives of the Beijing School system to the Hoosick Falls school. They were quite impressed with the school and its programs and facilities, and they were eager to bring some of their students here to study.

HFCS Honor Society Inducts 26 New Members

On Tuesday, November 13, the Hoosick Falls Central School Philip Leonard Chapter of the National Honor Society inducted 26 new members.
Current Members
The Society’s members before the induction included: Secretary Julia Baker, Brad Burns, Katherine Danforth, Grace Delurey, Historian Molly Fleming, Treasurer Alice Hayden, Frankie Pearson, Vice-President Mary Peters, Evan Phillips and President Jason Woods. Co-Advisors are Mrs. Theselia Nielsen and Miss Isabel McGuire.

Panther Boys Soccer Had A Great Run

On Friday morning the Panther Boys Soccer team traveled to Middletown to play in the semi-finals of  the Final Four for the Class C Boys Soccer Championship Saturday. The 17-5-0 Panthers were matched up against the 21-0-0, Bobcats of Lansing.

The Hoosick Falls Central School Drama Club is hard at work putting on the finishing touches of Agatha Christie’s famous murder mystery And Then There Were None. As in the past, admission remains free to the public.
The story is simple: Ten people, each with something to hide and something to fear, are invited to a lonely mansion on Soldier Island by a host who, surprisingly, fails to appear, and one by one, they start to die…

Panthers Blow Past Red Storm 20 – 12 In Battle Of Undefeateds; Move To State Semi-Finals

What a game – two 10-0, evenly matched Section champions meeting to determine who would be the Northeast region winner and continue into the State semifinals – two bleachers full of great fans loudly cheering their team – cool air and a warm sun – Hoosick Falls native Doug McCabe up in the booth announcing the game for the opposing team – Hoosick Falls linebacker Mike Mattat playing against his cousin Jonathan McCabe. Late fall football doesn’t get any better than this.

Hoosick Falls Girls Soccer Defeats AuSable For Regional Title

The first half of the Class C State semifinal game played in Stillwater on Saturday, November 10, was a nail-biter. It was a gorgeous warm day, but Hoosick Falls fans didn’t notice as they sat on the edge of their seats. The halftime score was 0-0.

Panther Boys Soccer Beats Lake Placid; Heads To Final Four

The Panther Boys, Section 2 Champions, ventured to Plattsburg to face Lake Placid High, Section 7 Champions.  Both teams took the pitch looking to continue their seasons to get to the New York State Semi-Finals in Middletown on Saturday, November 17.

Veterans Remembered At HFCS

On Friday, November 9, the Hoosick Falls high school auditorium rocked with song as the Elementary School held its traditional Veterans Day assembly. Mrs. Burdick’s third grade class stood in the hallway with American flags in hand as all the classes entered the auditorium. Burdick’s class carried the flags to the stage and placed them in stands.
