NLCS District Consolidates Bus Routes

At the New Lebanon School Board meeting on September 1, Transportation Supervisor Mary Mabb announced that the number of District bus routes has been reduced from 19 to 15. New Principal For Elementary School

At its regular meeting on August 4 the New Lebanon Central School Board and Administration welcomed Rebecca Marzeski to the District. Beginning on August 9, she will become the Principal of Walter B. Howard Elementary School.
Little Impact From State Budget
Although four months late, the New York State budget finally passed. While it is uncertain how much the budget will affect New York State’s schools, the New Lebanon administration was confident that it would have little impact on the 2010-2011 school budget. Generous Grad Treats NLCS Alumni To Dinner

New Lebanon Central School alumni filled the Stephentown Fire Hall on Saturday, July 17. It was the 2010 NLCS Alumni Dinner, sponsored and paid for once again by Richard Burns, Class of ’49. The generous Mr. Burns, who now resides in Shelton, CT, has picked up the tab now for the fifth straight year, and the turnout each year has, not surprisingly, been great.

NLCS Students Score Well On Standardized Tests

On July 7 New Lebanon School Board meeting set the tone for the upcoming school year. Current superintendent Karen McGraw was sworn in for another term.  Incumbent Board of Education members JoAnn Gavirty and Raymond Sowalski and David Kroboth, the BOE’s newest member, were sworn in as well.   Moreover, current President Monique Wood was again nominated to lead the Board. Sowalski will continue his position as BOE Vice President.

Results Of The New Lebanon School District Election

The New Lebanon School budget passed 279-125. Incumbents JoAnn Gavrity (300 votes) and Raymond Sowalski (289) were re-elected to three year terms. A Vicious Battle – Softball That Is

It was a vicious battle from the beginning to the end between the Lady Tigers and Lady Mountaineers softball teams. The first few innings for both teams were a quick three up, three down with New Lebanon getting one run. NLCSD Reverses Two Teacher Lay- Offs

The New Lebanon Board of Education will not eliminate a business teacher’s or physical education teacher’s position. Initially, these positions were in peril due to the difficult economic times, but because of faculty and community concern, the Board worked to develop an alternative route that was both diplomatic and practical.
