Panther Boys Soccer Ties Schuylerville; Beats Greenwich

Neither Hoosick Falls nor Schuylerville could find the net after the first half in their game on Monday at the Hoosick Falls Soccer Complex. So, after 80 minutes of regulation, the teams played two ten minute overtimes.

Panther Golfers Keep Rolling

Two matches rescheduled from last week due to heat and storms have made for a busy week for the Panther golf team.
Monday the team faced Cambridge at home. The Panthers came away with a 4 – 1 win. Winning players were Eric Bloomer, Andrew Hoag, Justin Lynch and Will Kennedy. Andrew Hoag shot a 42 to qualify to play at the Ballston Spa Country Club for Sectionals. Eric Bloomer had already qualified.

SMA Students Ready For The School Year

August was a waiting game for St. Mary’s Academy Principal Maureen Daurio. She was impatient for the school year to begin. Last week it did, and she is excited. “Two years ago we started preparing for the new State proficiency exams with professional development assistance from the Roman Catholic Diocese of Albany,” she said. “Last year the teachers transformed how they taught. They brought learning alive! This year will be even better.”

Hoosac School Offers Open Gym Days
Hoosac School, in Hoosick, will host two open gym days for local area prospective college basketball players. On Saturday, September 21, and again on Saturday, September 28, from 4:30 to 6 pm Hoosac School will invite area college coaches to our gym for open workouts. Student/athletes in grades 10-12 are eligible. You must register with Head Basketball Coach Mike Foster via email to mfoster@hoosac.org by the Friday prior to the event. Only those who are registered will be allowed to participate. Please bring your own numbered T-shirt or reversible practice top. Questions may be addressed to Coach Foster at the same email.
Hoosac School is located on Pine Valley Road in Hoosick. Hoosac is an Independent College Preparatory Day and Boarding School serving grades 8-12.

Coming off its first State title in school history, the Hoosick Falls football team wasted no time in letting the Tamarac Bengals know that the 2013 version would not be all that different than last year’s team. Berlin Boys Soccer Wins The New Lebanon Tournament

The Berlin Boys Soccer team started the season winning the New Lebanon Tournament.
On Thursday, September 5, in the New Lebanon tournament the Mountaineers played St. Joseph of Pittsfield. Berlin outshot St. Joe’s 30 to 16 and totally dominated the game defensively, yet they could only manage one goal, from Keel Krumenacker on an assist from Zach Spaniol. BCS Girls Soccer Takes Second At The New Lebanon Tournament

The Berlin Girls varsity soccer team took second place in the New Lebanon Tournament last weekend. In the first game against St. Joe’s of Pittsfield the Lady Mountaineers dominated possession and had many scoring opportunities finally breaking through with a goal by Jewel Pietrzk in the first half.
