The Hoosick Falls boys basketball team ran into one of their toughest games of the year last Friday night against an unlikely opponent. Cambridge has had a less than stellar season thus far, having just one victory over Tamarac to their credit. On Friday the two rival schools faced off and, for almost three quarters, played a game that did not have the feel of the top and bottom teams in the standings.

Nicole St. Onge Goes To Washington DC
by Aelish Nealon and Bea Peterson
“It’s important that the voices of today’s teens are heard, and it’s even more important that we are given a chance to make a change in the world that we will eventually be taking care of. Beginning with Project Ignition and other youth-led programs, we are given an opportunity to improve our hometowns and the issues we can all relate to in one way or another, as well as a chance of making life safer for future generations, not just for our lives today.”
This is a quote from an essay written by Nicole St. Onge, a junior at HFCS, who represented NYS at a Project Ignition Conference held in Washington DC. [Read more…] about Nicole St. Onge Goes To Washington DC
HFCS Budget May Suffer From Evaporating State Money
by Alex Brooks
The Hoosick Falls School District has been informed that under the Governor’s recently released budget, State operating aid for the District would go up by about $200,000. This is about 1% of the District’s total budget. It would be an increase in State operating aid of a little over 2%. If the District’s annual health insurance cost were to increase by 5%, that would eat up all of this proposed State aid increase. In fact, health insurance costs have usually gone up by more than 5% annually.

by Ryan Mosher
Despite a slow start in Greenwich on Friday night, the Hoosick Falls boys basketball team avenged its only loss of the season thus far in convincing fashion, with a 62-48 win.
