The Hoosick Falls boys soccer team’s amazing sectional run came to a tough end on Wednesday night in Johnstown at the hands of #1 seed Maple Hill. The #13 seeded Panthers did not go quietly though, fighting until the bitter end, hoping for yet another upset. The Panther defense, anchored by goalie Cody Gaines, played a great game, holding one of the top offensive teams in Section II scoreless for 66 minutes before the Wildcats scored.

Panther Boys Soccer Upsets #5 Seed Waterford

The Hoosick Falls boys soccer team continued its late season run in Monday’s Class C quarterfinal sectional game. The red hot Panthers, seeded #13 entering sectionals, have already knocked off #4 Galway in penalty kicks in the first round. In the quarterfinals Hoosick Falls was matched up against #5 seed Waterford from the CHVL.

FCCLA Fall Fund-Raisers
On Election Day, November 8, Berlin FCCLA parents will be selling chili and cornbread for $4. Beverages will be available for $1. This event will be held at the Berlin Fire House from noon to 7 pm.
FCCLA is also baking Thanksgiving Rolls for $3 a dozen. Orders need to be placed by Friday, November 18. You can send your orders by email to dmosher@berlincentral.org or send an order form to Dianne Mosher at the Berlin High School. Orders will be available for pick up on Tuesday, November 22, or Wednesday, November 23.

Pizza And A Movie And A Dance At Berlin MS/HS
This Friday night, October 28, from 4 to 7 pm, the Class of 2012 will be selling hot fresh pizzas for $8 a pie at the school. Toppings are $1 each and include pepperoni, sausage, mushroom, black olives, onions, green pepper and jalapenos. To order, call 658-2515 ext. 209. You can eat-in or take out.
Then, the HS Band will be hosting “Fright Night” from 6- to 8 pm. They will be showing the original movie Night of the Living Dead. Admission is $3. Any student under the age of 16 must have written parent permission or a parent with them in order to attend.
And if 8 pm is too early to end the evening, the Class of 2013 will be hosting a Halloween Dance from 8 to 11 pm. Wear your costume (no masks, must meet dress code). Prizes will be given for best costume. Admission to the dance is $5. But wait, for just $10 students can get two slices of pizza and a beverage, go see the movie and go to the dance.
BCS To Commemorate Veterans
The Berlin Middle Senior High School will once again be hosting a celebration commemorating our local veterans, past and present. On Wednesday Thursday, November 10, all veterans are invited to attend a breakfast followed by a short assembly. Immediately after the assembly, the veterans are invited to visit the sixth grade students where there will be a short presentation.

BCSD Capital Project Moves Forward

The Goodermote-Willis Capital Improvement Project for the Berlin Central School District proceeded apace at Tuesday’s monthly School Board meeting with a four to three vote in favor of the project.
The plan is to spend close to $6.8 million on improving the many problems of both the Berlin Elementary School building as well as the Berlin Middle/High School. Both the architects of the project, School Board President Gina Goodermote and Board Member Jim Willis, and the architects on the project, C.S. Arch feel it can be accomplished using the District’s reserve funds as well as State aid and should come about with no increase in the tax levy.
