There will be a Registration Day at Berlin Middle-High School in the Counseling Office on Tuesday, August 16, from 8:30 am until 1:30 pm for all new students in grades 6 through 12. To register a child you will need a copy of your child’s birth certificate, health record (available at previous school), the last report card, a copy of the IEP (if your child is classified by Committee on Special Education), proof of residency in the Berlin Central School District and a copy of the custodial agreement if you are divorced or separated.

At the Hoosick Falls School Board Organizational Meeting July 14, Greg Laurin was elected President and Rick Ferrannini Vice President of the School Board, both by unanimous vote. Laurin has experience as the President of the Hoosick Falls School Board, having served in that capacity for a period of time several years ago.

Linda McGuire Retiring From St. Mary’s Academy

Tears flowed freely at St. Mary’s Academy on Friday, June 17, when students, staff and parents honored third grade teacher Linda McGuire, who is retiring after 38 years. Some of the fifth grade students who led the morning prayer service recognizing their beloved teacher found it hard to read their essays without some meltdown. The Berlin Central School District held a Meet the Candidates night on June 28 allowing residents to meet and interview the final two candidates for the District’s Superintendent position.
The finalists in the search are Virginia Keegan of the Owen D. Young Central School District in Herkimer County and Stephen M. Young of Lindenhurst Public Schools in Suffolk County.

Congratulations to the Hoosick Falls Class of 2011
The HFCS Graduation Week

It rained for days last week, but it never dampened the spirits of the Hoosick Falls Central School Class of 2011. Formal events began on Wednesday, June 22, with the Baccalaureate Service at Immaculate Conception Church. On Thursday evening it was Awards Night at school and on Friday evening it was Graduation, which had to be held indoors. (Thank goodness for air conditioning!)
