Despite playing very well the Berlin boys basketball team saw their season come to an end on Friday night, February 22, in Greenwich. The sectional play-in game pitted the Witches of the WASAREN League against the Mountaineers. The teams were battling it out for the right to play against #3 seed Voorheesville in the first round game the following week.

Sixteen students along with five chaperones volunteered recently at the Double H Hole in The Wall Camp in Lake Luzerne. The students used their school holiday, January 19, to pay tribute to their friend Cooper Reiman. Cooper passed away last February from muscular dystrophy. The Double H camp was a favorite place of Cooper’s.

St. Mary’s Academy will be holding its second annual Fish Fry Friday night dinners throughout Lent. Dinners will be served from 5 to 7 pm, or until sold out, at the Immaculate Conception Church Hall through March 26. Business Manager Pamela Hatfield presented a preliminary budget document which detailed a very challenging budget season ahead. Superintendent Ken Facin introduced her presentation by telling the Board that the Governor’s budget proposes cutting State aid to the Hoosick Falls District by over 10%, which would reduce the District’s revenue by $1.2 million. He said with a cut like that, if the District just went forward with a “status quo” budget leaving the program the same as it was last year, they would end up with 21% tax levy increase.
