TVHS Graduates Its Fourth Class

Cass, Irwin Receive CASDA Honors

TVHS Student Nick Despart Receives RPI Medal

Tech Valley High School Class of 2015 student Nick Despart received the RPI Medal during a recent ceremony. If Despart, from Berlin, enrolls in RPI in 2015, he will earn scholarships totaling $60,000 over the four years of his schooling there.

Electricman – Spare Those Trees!

At the Berlin School Board meeting on June 17 it was reported that NYSEG seems determined to turn that long line of trees bordering the Berlin Middle/High School along Route 22 in Cherry Plain into a large pile of wood chips.

David Sutton’s Last Meeting As School Board Member

The Hoosick Falls School Board meeting this month was David Sutton’s last meeting as a member of the School Board. Many fine words were spoken about his long service on the School Board and the difference he has made. He served on the Board for 13 years and was Board President for seven years. Current School Board President Greg Laurin said with great conviction, “Nobody has done more for this school in the last dozen years.”

Joyce Brewer Honored As PTA Founders’ Day Award Winner

Hoosick Falls Central School Jr./Sr. High School 2014 Summer School Registration Is Tuesday, July 1

Important Dates

• Tuesday, July 1, – Registration 8 am to 12 pm and 1 to 3 pm in the    Guidance Office

• Tuesday, July 8, – 7/8 Classes Begin – 8 to 10:30 am

Wednesday, July 22 – Regents Prep Classes Begin

Wednesday July 23 – 7/8 First Semester Ends

Wednesday and Thursday, August 6 and 7 – 7/8 School Exams

Wednesday and Thursday, August 13-14 – Regents Exams

Friday, August 15 – Report Cards Mailed

7 And 8 Grade Summer School

Students in grades 7 and 8 who fail one or more core classes (ELA, math, social studies and science) are eligible for summer school.

They will be in attendance from 8 to 10:30 am on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from July 8 to August 7.

The 7/8 program will focus on reading, writing and math skills.

Regents Prep Classes 

(Dependent upon enrollment)

Regents Prep Classes will begin July 22 and run through August 12 every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

BCS Board Told Trees To Be Cut Down At Middle School/High School

As the school year draws to an end, the Berlin School District honored newly tenured teachers and retiring employees at Tuesday’s monthly Board meeting. “We are here to celebrate you,” said Berlin Elementary School Principal Tricia Carlton.

Stephentown Elementary School Furniture Available To Non-Profits

The Berlin Central School District will open the Stephentown Elementary School on Saturday, June 28, beginning at 10 am for review and distribution of a variety of surplus furniture equipment that is available for non-profit groups that comprise the Berlin Central School District (libraries, fire companies, churches).

This equipment is available at no cost as long it is used for official non-profit group purposes and is not sold now or in the future. Transfer of these items from the Stephentown Elementary School to the non-profit groups will be the sole responsibility of the non-profit group.
