Win A Turkey

September 21, 2012 By eastwickpress

Enjoy a little competition?  Join the Petersburgh Rod & Gun Club on September 30 and October 7 at noon for a turkey shoot.  Now is your chance to show your neighbor up with shot guns or rifles – no 10 gauge shot guns. This year we are also sponsoring a pistol shoot – you provide your own ammunition for the pistols. Good food will be available – hot dogs, sausage, hamburgers, baked beans and homemade pies.
So bring your family, enjoy the afternoon and win a turkey! A summer-long 50/50 raffle is also being held in addition to various raffles. The Petersburgh Rod & Gun Club is located on Scriven Road.

Mountaineer Boys Soccer Defeats New Lebanon

September 14, 2012 By eastwickpress

by Soccer Coach Art Schmich
The Berlin boys varsity soccer team defeated New Lebanon in double overtime 1 to 0 on a game winning goal by Cody Seel. This was the league opener for both teams.
Berlin controlled the beginning of the game defensively until midway in the first half when New Lebanon started to take over the game and had several scoring opportunities but were turned away by the goalkeeping of Mike Reger, who had 17 saves in goal.
The second half was back and forth with New Lebanon getting most of the scoring opportunities. Berlin’s best chance was a shot by Seel that hit the cross bar.
The game was well played by both teams, and both teams demonstrated outstanding sportsmanship for a game that was highly competitive.
Berlin is 1 and 0 in CHVL play and 1 and 2 overall. New Lebanon is 0 and 1 in CHVL play and 1 and 2 overall.
