BCS Boys Soccer Loses In The New Lebanon Tournament

St. Joseph’s School from Pittsfield, MA, scored early in the first overtime to defeat Berlin 2 to 1 in the New Lebanon tournament on Saturday, September 8. Berlin took an early 1 to 0 lead on an own goal by the St. Joe goalkeeper. St. Joe tied the game just before the half on a corner kick headed in by one of their strikers.
Berlin outshot St. Joe in the second half 9 to 3 but could not score. Andrew Zlotnick had an impressive first half in goal for Berlin with 6 saves. Mike Reger did equally well with 3 saves in the net in the second half.

HF Golf Wins Again

Hoosick Falls had a big win on Monday, September 10. Playing on their home course, the Hoosick Falls Country Club, they defeated Greenwich 5-0.  Hoosick Falls players Andrew Hoag and Eric Bloomer tied for medalist with a 42 each. The team’s next match is Monday, September 17.

New Learn-to-Geocache Workshops Scheduled At State Parks

Three new learn-to-geocache workshops have been scheduled at  Saratoga Spa State Park, Saratoga Springs, on September 27 at 5 pm and at Grafton Lakes State Park on September 29 at 1 pm. The cost to participate in the workshops at Saratoga Spa and Grafton Lakes is $3 per person. Please call the parks for more information and to reserve a spot in the class.

A Great Time At The Rensselaer County Schaghticoke Fair

The Rensselaer County Schaghticoke Fair has been in operation for 193 years. It is the third oldest Fair in New York State. Weather conditions were great for the entire week of the Schaghticoke Fair. On Thursday, August 30, the weather was absolutely perfect – sunny, cool and breezy. There was plenty of stuff for the whole family to see and do all day and all evening. Area farms and businesses were well represented. Friends and folks from nearby towns won blue ribbons with their vegetables and fruits. Hoosick Falls Country Club Is Expanding Services

The Hoosick Falls Country Club is offering the community more than a golf course this year. Besides the bar, it now has a full service restaurant. After its membership meeting on September 14, the Club may be working to winterize the facility so it is open all year.

Panthers Roar Out Of The Gate

HFCS Golf Takes A Loss

After a run of wins, the Hoosick Falls golfers lost to Schuylerville on Wednesday, September 5, at the Hoosick Falls Country Club. The score was 0-5. The medalist was Carter Fritch from Schuylerville, who shot a 35.
The Panthers take on Hoosic Valley Thursday, after the first day of school, at the Battonkill Course.
