HooRWA Outing

On Saturday, February 25, the Hoosic River Watershed Association will sponsor a snowshoe/ski/hike on upper Mountain Meadow in Pownal, VT, from 10 am to noon. Meet at the parking lot on Benedict Road off White Oaks Road north of Williamstown. Rain will cancel the event. If you have questions, call Lauren Stevens at 413-458-3154.

HFCS Bowling Team To Represent Section II In State Finals

On Friday, February 10, the Hoosick Falls bowling team successfully defended its Section II C-D title with a great win at Boulevard Lanes in Schenectady. They won the title in 2007, 2009, 2011, 2012 and placed second in 2008 and 2010. They finished with a six-game total of 6,060 pins. Hoosick Falls beat the Class “A” team on Monday and the Class “B” team on Tuesday and now will represent Section II in the State Bowling Tournament on March 3 in Binghamton. Panthers Runners-Up As Burns, Weierbach Retain Section II Titles

The Panther wrestling team has already this year won the Wasaren League title, the Ken Baker Classic title and the Class C Championship. The Panthers had four individual champions at the Ken Baker Classic and the Class C Championships as well and qualified ten wrestlers to compete this past weekend at the Section II Championships at the Glens Falls Civic Center.

Panthers Huge Third Quarter Send Them Past Tamarac

Another slow start for the Hoosick Falls boys basketball team kept the Bengals of Tamarac in the game longer than anticipated on Friday night, February 10.  A big third quarter for the already crowned Wasaren League Champions kept their winning streak alive though.

GLSP Winter Recess Programs: Animal Tracks & Bird Count

Grafton Lakes State Park is hosting a Winter Recess Program, Animal Tracks and Traces, on Saturday, February 18, at 1 pm. This program will include an introduction to reading the stories left in the snow by fox, deer, rabbits and other forest dwellers along with a short hike. Come dressed for the weather and learn how to track and trace animals found at the Park.

Winterlude Event At Cherry Plain State Park

On Saturday, February 25, the Friends of Cherry Plain State Park (FCP) are hosting an outdoor day of winter activities.  The event will be based at the Cherry Plain State Park entrance on Miller Road in Berlin from  9:30 am to 2 pm.
Depending on weather and interest, FCP will host snowshoe hikes, cross-country ski treks, ice skating on the pond or simply a good long walk. An animal tracking and nature observation event will be featured. If snow conditions permit, a free snowshoe demo is available for both adults and children on a first-come, first-served basis.
