The Rensselaer Plateau Alliance has bluebird and wood duck nesting boxes available to the public for free. In 2011, the RPA collaborated with Dyken Pond Environmental Education Center and the Averill Park School District to build the boxes. Fourth grade students from Miller Hill Elementary School and Robert C. Parker school worked with older students to build the boxes as part of a service learning project. Panther Wrestlers Win Class C Section II Championship

The Hoosick Falls wrestling team went 4-0 in the finals of the Class C Tournament on Saturday to clinch its first sectional title in over a decade. The Panthers scored 197.5 points to beat second place Galway (174 points) and third place Corinth (169 points).

Letter To The Editor – The Tradition Is Strong
To the Editor:
This is written in hopes of acclaiming the accomplishments of the wrestlers of Hoosick Falls. It has been many years since the Panthers have claimed the League and Class Sectional crowns. As one of many who had grown up watching and eventually participating in the strong tradition of one of the toughest, most unforgiving and relentless of sports, I feel a great measure of pride and nostalgia, as do all the alumni of HFCS wrestling as we enjoy the fruits of the labor of the young men who continue to compete on the mats this year.

Panthers Clinch Wasaren League Boys Basketball Title With Win Over Granville

Playing in their final home game at Hoosick Falls against Granville, the Panthers’ five senior basketball players clinched another Wasaren League championship. Tanner Williams, Ryan Hyde, Matt Gormley, Aaron Perkins and Alex Lilac were honored prior to the game, as was Jenni Steller, Emily Hoag and Stephany Bradley, the team scorekeeper and videographers. After the brief ceremony, the boys wasted no time in making their big push towards the win.

HFCS Bowlers Win Adirondack Championship
The Hoosick Falls bowling team won their Championship Match against Fort Edward for the Adirondack League title by the total pin count of 3,771 to 3,669. Hoosick Falls won each game. They won by 37 pins in the first game, 42 pins in the second game and 23 pins in the last game for a total advantage of just 102 pins in this closely contested match. Lilac’s Hot Shooting Continues As Panthers Win

Coming off a career night at Stillwater last Tuesday, Alex Lilac showed no mercy on Hoosic Valley last Friday night. The Hoosick Falls senior buried 6 three-pointers en route to 27 points as the Panthers locked up at least a share of the Wasaren League title with a 59-43 win over the Indians. The win wasn’t a walk in the park for Hoosick Falls though.

Kiwanis Club Sponsors Free Skating – Weather Permitting
The Kiwanis Club of Hoosick Falls will sponsor free ice skating from 1 to 4 pm on Saturday, February 18. The free ice skating includes free rentals, door prizes, cookies, hot chocolate and races for the children who want to race.
The event will be held at the Weir-Reynolds Ice Skating Rink if there’s ice! Come join us for a fun day – weather permitting.

Animal Tracks And Traces At GLSP
Grafton Lakes State Park is hosting a Winter Recess Program, Animal Tracks and Traces, on Saturday, February 18, at 1 pm. This program will include an introduction to reading the stories left in the snow by fox, deer, rabbits and other forest dwellers along with a short hike. Come dressed for the weather and learn how to track and trace animals found at the Park.
