Greenway Groundbreaking In Hoosick Falls
by Bea Peterson
Close to 40 people attended the groundbreaking ceremony for the Hoosic River Greenway on Sunday, December 4. The event was the result of five years of effort by a group of dedicated people. Individual and company donors, spearheaded by the late Mark Revet, began the effort with the purchase of 26 acres from the Boston & Maine Corporation of the old railroad beds running along the Hoosic River. The land runs roughly from the old Village Wastewater Plant to the Village Water Plant. The purchase took over two years. Grants have been received for all additional work on the trail. Suttonscapes recently cleared and smoothed the trail from its beginning to the berm near Willow St. Next spring rock dust will be placed on the trail to make for smooth walking and biking.

Letter To The Editor – Safety First At GLSP
To the Editor:
With respect to the master plan for the Grafton Lakes State Park presented to the public last week, Fire Chief James Goyer makes an excellent and profound observation about the dangerous entrance to the Park.
Remediation of this problem should be the FIRST, most important priority. This situation is a life or death issue. The rest of the plan is like perusing the Christmas gift catalog and making a wish list. The ideas presented would all be very nice, but a safe entrance/exit is essential.
I suggest this go to the top of the list in an expedited manner.
Sincerely,
Anne Kiely

Rough Start For BCS Boys Hoops
by Ryan Mosher
The Berlin boys basketball team kicked off its season with games at Doane Stuart on Thursday and at home against Hoosic Valley on Friday. The quick start to the season did not go well for the Mountaineers as they dropped both contests.
Playing in the small gym at Doane Stuart, the Mountaineers had difficulty with the rebounding of the Thunder Chickens. Berlin could not find an answer to Doane Stuart’s Evan Schettini. The forward recorded a double-double, scoring 17 points and pulling down 10 rebounds.
