Norwich University used seven individual event titles to spur itself to the team title at the 2011 Great Northeast Athletic Conference men’s invitational on December 3 and 4.
Coach Laura Dunn’s team tallied 289 points, besting runner-up Regis College of Massachusetts by 52 points. The Maroon and Gold picked up three relay wins in the 200-yard freestyle, 400-yard medley and 200-yard medley. Individually, sophomore Patrick Bowden (Cumberland, ME) was a double winner in the 50-yard and 200-yard breaststroke events, while freshman Lance Webster (Windham, ME) won the 200-yard backstroke and sophomore Brandon Kelly (Centreville, MD) won the 200-yard butterfly. Bowden and Webster combined to set three GNAC records with Webster doing so in the backstroke, and Bowden achieving new league bests in both of his victories.

Hoosick Falls Registration For Spring Soccer Is Now Open
The Hoosick Falls Soccer Club offers an organized soccer program for children 4 to 18 years of age. For more information and to register go to hoosickfallssoccer.org.
Rec./In-House programs are available for children in pre-k through sixth grade. Games are played at the George Helft Soccer Complex on South Street in Hoosick Falls. Registration deadline is April 1. For more information about our Rec/In-house program contact Paul Dunham at 518-753-7690.
Travel Team Deadline Is January 1
Travel teams are available for ages 10-18. Teams compete in the Capital District Youth Soccer League. The NYS Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation held a public hearing on the proposed Master Plan for the Grafton Lakes State Park. It began with a short presentation on the main points of the Master Plan.

Hoosic River Greenway Groundbreaking Begins
A groundbreaking ceremony to celebrate the beginning of construction on the Hoosic River Greenway will be held on Sunday, December 4, at 1 pm. The public is invited to attend. Attendees should meet at the old waterworks off Carey Avenue in the Village of Hoosick Falls.
A 2.5 mile long abandoned railbed was purchased from Pan Am Railways by the Village in 2009, largely with funds raised locally. The event will provide an opportunity to thank those who contributed to the purchase of the Greenway lands.

The Hoosick Falls bowling team started the 2011-2012 season with a good win on the road at Hoosic Valley by the score of 4-0. Hoosick Falls had a match total of 3,614 pins to Hoosic Valley’s total of 3,157. The top bowler for Hoosic Valley was Tatios Barkaman with a 252-636. The Hoosick Falls bowling team has both experienced bowlers and upcoming J.V. bowlers from last year who are ready to defend their league tournament, league championship and sectional titles from last year. Members of the team who will be helping defend these titles are seniors Joe Wolfrum, Co-captain, Mikaela Marbot, Co-captain, Mitch Andrew, Jordan Colvin and Charlie Stowell, juniors Bryan Callahan, Josh Conn and Josh Reveal, freshman Ken Marbot, eighth-graders Josh McCart, Jen Sargood and Stephen Surdam. After sailing to victory in the NYS Class C semi-final match on Saturday against Tully High School the Hoosick Falls girls soccer team, ranked #2 in the State, faced a formidable foe on Sunday. On Saturday Long Island’s Friends Academy, ranked #4, knocked off #1 Keshequa High School 3-2 to meet HF in the Championship game.
