Panther Football Overpowers Tough Greenwich Squad

On Friday night, under the lights in Greenwich, the Witches football team did something no other team in Section II had done this year – score touchdowns against the Hoosick Falls first team defense. Unfortunately for Greenwich, those points did not faze the Panthers, who responded almost immediately with touchdowns of their own on both scores.

Carr’s OT Goal Gives Panthers Victory

Berlin Boys Cross Country Takes Second At Maple Hill Invy

The Berlin boys cross country team ran what Coach Rick Ingraham called one of its best races of the year on Saturday at the Maple Hill Invitational. Ingraham’s top five runners all finished within one minute of each other. With results like these, the Mountaineers hoped to knock off Berne-Knox-Westerlo, their biggest challenger in Class D this year.

Panthers Shutout Stillwater, Hoosic Valley

The Hoosick Falls boys soccer team ran its winning streak to three games at the beginning of the week with consecutive shutouts over Stillwater and Hoosick Valley. Stillwater previously defeated the Panthers 2-1 in Hoosick Falls. On Friday HFCS returned the favor, dropping the Warriors 1-0 on their turf field. Taconic Valley Youth Basketball Sign Up
Taconic Valley Youth Basketball sponsored by PVMCC will hold a sign-up night on Tuesday, October 18, from 6 to 8 pm at the Petersburgh Veteran’s Memorial Community Center. This program is open to all children within the Berlin Central School District in first through sixth grade.
Registration costs $25 per child which includes a shirt.
Coaches and assistant coaches are needed.

Pioneer Fish & Game Club Elects Officers

The Pioneer Fish and Game Club, Inc.’s 65th annual election of officers and banquet was held at the club grounds in Potter Hill on September 18. The election results are as folows: President – Ed Sukuskas, Vice President – Rodd Post, Treasurer – Dick Ogden, Secretary – Gary Sargood.
A short meeting was held and afterward a pig roast was enjoyed by more than 50 members and guests. The Rensselaer County Conservation Alliance was represented by Vice President Tom Agar.
