Summer Bowling Leagues At Barbecue Recreation

Cherry Plain Youth Gets First Jake On Youth Hunt Weekend; Spring Turkey Season Opens May 1

New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) Commissioner Joe Martens recently reminded hunters that the 2011 spring turkey season opens on May 1 in all of upstate New York lying north of the Bronx-Westchester County boundary. The annual Youth Turkey Hunting Weekend was April 23-24.

April 30, Saturday – Trail Work Day at Grafton Lakes State Park from 9 am to 12 pm. We have a lot of mess from the big ice storm earlier this year. Come help us out clearing debris from trails and enjoy a beautiful day in the outdoors. Refreshments are available in the morning for all volunteers.  Please call the Park to register at 279-1155.

Bond With The Birds: Nest Watch Training At GLSP

On Saturday, May 7, from 1 to 2 pm, the Shaver Pond Nature Center at Grafton Lake State Park and the Cornell Lab of Ornithology will be hosting a training session for NestWatch volunteers. In this program, you will learn more about NestWatch and how you can participate, including tips on how to safely locate and monitor nests.

Volunteer For Earth Day At Dyken Pond Environmental Education Center

Enjoy the early spring weather and volunteer for Earth Day at the Dyken Pond Environmental Education Center on Saturday, April 16, from 9 am until 12 pm. Volunteers are needed to do basic trail work including clearing winter debris and clearing trails for the hiking season. No experience is necessary, just a willingness to work outdoors. All ages are welcome as well as families and organizations. Volunteers can come for the entire morning or for an hour. Drinks and snacks will be provided.
