Lady Panthers Win Sectional First Round

In a very close game Hoosick Falls won the first round of the Class B Sectionals. Ninth seed HF defeated eighth seed Greenville Tuesday night, February 22, by a score of 43-41. In the first quarter the score was 11-10 HF. The Panthers led 21-17 at the half. The game was tied up 28 all at the end of the third and very close all through the fourth quarter. A three-pointer by Nicole Marmillo with under two minutes remaining cinched the deal for HF. High scorer for HF was Frankie Pearson with 16 points. The team is now 9-10 for the season.
On Friday they will play number one seed Maple Hill.
Hoosick Baseball & Softball Registration
The Town of Hoosick Baseball & Softball will register players at the Hoosick Area Youth Center, 115 Church Street, Hoosick Falls, on Saturday, February 26, from 10 am to 2 pm. Girls and boys ages 4 to 12 can sign up for baseball or softball for opening day April 23. Great news is that the registration fee is lower. The cost is $50 for a single player, $80 for two players and $5 for each additional player. You do not have to live in the township to sign up. Any questions, please call Beth Cipperly 518-686-5450.
Amphibian Monitoring At Grafton Lakes State Park
Are you interested in helping protect frogs and toads? The North American Amphibian Monitoring Program (NAAMP), an effort coordinated by the U.S. Geological Survey and a network of regional coordinators, will lead a training session for volunteers to collect data on frogs and toads during the spring and summer. This free training will be held on Wednesday, March 2, from 6 to 7:30 pm at the Shaver Pond Nature Center at 194 Shaver Pond Road in Grafton Lakes State Park.

Panther Wrestlers Burns And Weierbach Win Sectionals; Head to States

Hoosick Falls wrestlers Brad Burns and Luis Weierbach entered the Section II State Qualifier tournament at the Glens Falls Civic Center with hopes of extending their season by two more weeks to reach the State championship meet. The sophomore and freshman were seeded first and second heading into the meet.

HFCS Bowlers Win Sectionals
On Tuesday, February 15, the Hoosick Falls bowling team won the Section II C-D Tournament for the third time in five years. With a six game total for five bowlers of 5,930 pins they beat Mechanicville with a pin total of 5,531 and Fort Plain with a pin total of 5,524 on a difficult oil pattern. Hoosick Falls had the third highest total of all A, B and C-D schools, only being outscored by eventual winner Class A Colonie with 6,486 and Class A Guilderland with 6,007.

Panthers Spoil Indians Senior Night

The Hoosick Falls boys basketball team took to the road for one of their final contests of the year. Playing at Hoosic Valley on their senior night drew a large crowd for the Indians. The brief ceremony before the game didn’t seem to bring the inspiration to the home team, in fact it only seemed to delay the inevitable by five or ten minutes. From the beginning, the Panthers showed who was in charge.

Lady Panthers Senior Night

Last Friday night, February 11, was Senior Night for the HFCS girls basketball team. Their opponent was WASAREN league first place team Hoosic Valley.
The Hoosick Falls gals couldn’t put it together in the first quarter and Hoosic Valley led them 15-5. Then in the second quarter HF came alive, including two interceptions and four points in the final minute. At the half it was 17-18 with HF behind by only one point.
