A new well equipped fitness center is now open in Berlin Middle School-High School with a new and welcome approach according to Sandy Honsinger, the school’s Physical Education Director.
“The focus of the center is to get kids active and to promote healthy lifestyles,” Honsinger said. “To do that, our equipment is very user friendly, regardless of someone’s initial fitness level. It’s multi-purpose too, which is great because we have limited space, and it also includes health rate monitoring.”

Taconic Valley Soccer Sign Up
The Taconic Valley Soccer Club will be holding registration for the following CDYSL teams: U12G, U14Co-Ed, U16G and U19B. Registration will be held at the Berlin Library on February 3, 10 and 17 from 7 to 9 pm and February 5, 12 and 19 from 10 am to 1 pm. Registration can also be done online at www.sportssignup.com/taconicvalley.start. Credit cards are accepted.

The Hoosick Falls bowling team defeated Corinth by the score of 4-0 on Thursday, January 13. Total pins for Hoosick Falls were 3,479 to 2,195 pins for Corinth. Hoosick Falls’ record is now 34-6 and Corinth’s record is now 13-27.

Snowshoe Hike At The Robert Ingalls Preserve
Explore the Rensselaer Land Trust’s newest 30 acre public preserve, The Robert Ingalls Preserve in Stephentown, on snowshoes. The snowshoe hike will follow along the Black Brook, a native trout spawning stream, wander along a ravine and traverse through the forest. Plan on a 1 hour to 1½ hour hike with a departure at 10 am on February 12. This event is suitable for families. Public Invited To Help Shape Future Of Grafton Lakes State Park
The New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation invites the public to participate in developing a comprehensive master plan for Grafton Lakes State Park. Panthers Have No Trouble With Bengals

On Monday night, January 10, the Hoosick Falls boys basketball team hosted WASAREN League foe Tamarac in a game that was supposed to be played on Friday night but was postponed. The second place Panthers had no trouble dealing with the Bengals from the opening tip, as they ran out to a 15-3 lead in the opening minutes.

Hoosick Falls Bowlers Split Two Matches
The Hoosick Falls bowling team won a very close away match against Schuylerville by the score of 3-1 on Thursday, January 6. Total pins for Hoosick Falls was 3,430 to 3,328 total pins for Schuylerville. Hoosick Falls now has a record of 30-2 and Schuylerville is 23-9.

Tigers Hold Off Mountaineers For CHVL Win

The New Lebanon boys basketball team was able to hold off a resilient Berlin team en route to a 70-45 victory on Tuesday night. Despite the Mountaineers’ rough 0-9 start thus far, they showed great improvement from just two weeks ago in the Hoosick Falls Holiday Tournament. Unfortunately for Berlin, those improvements weren’t enough to knock off sharp shooting Mike Gavrity and the Tigers.
