Lady Tigers Battle Back But Fall In OT

New Lebanon girls basketball coach Mike Springer was impressed with the basketball his team played in the second half of their sectional game on Tuesday night. Unfortunately, the Lady Tigers were already down by as many as 16 points when the second half rolled around.

Fischer Advances To Sectional Finals

Berlin Senior Max Fischer took home fourth place in the 152 pound weight class at the Class D Sectionals in Whitehall on Saturday. Zema Shot Saves Senior Night

In the first game between the Waterford and Berlin boys basketball teams, the Mountaineers knocked off the Fordians by 15 points, 55-40, behind a dominating performance by Brent Demick in which he scored 13 points and grabbed 16 rebounds. In that game Berlin grabbed 44 rebounds despite being the smaller team. On Thursday the teams played again, on Berlin’s senior night, and both knew that whichever team won would probably get the higher seed in the upcoming sectional tournament.

Cherry Plain Family In 24 Hour Snowmobile Ride For Cystic Fibrosis

Bill, Tony and Lisa Hammersmith left their house in Cherry Plain at 12:30 am on Saturday, February 7, and drove to Woodford, VT, where the 4th Vermont Border to Border in 24 Hours for CF was to start. The whole ride would be on the VAST (Vermont Association of Snow Travelers) trail system. Registration started at 2 am and the first snowmobiles left at 4 am. Bill and Tony left the starting line at around 4:30 am from about the 130th place position out of 203 other sleds to ride about 350 miles to the Canadian Border in Norton, VT.
