Basketball Trainer To The Pros To Hold Clinic At Hoosac School

Jerry Powell and his elite team of trainers will be holding a basketball clinic on Sunday, October 5, from 8 am to 6 pm at the Hoosac School, located on Pine Valley Road, in Hoosick.

Powell has trained NBA superstars such as LeBron James, Paul George and Rajon Rondo and WNBA standouts Bria Hartley and Sammy Prahalis.

The clinic is open to boys and girls in grades 4 to 12.  The cost is $25 per player.

Pre-registration is required by September 26.  To register you can email player name and grade level to Mike Ryan at mryan@hoosac.org or call him at 518-605-9946 or Noordin Said at 347-581-5004.

Payment for the clinic is due at the door on the day of the clinic.  Checks should be made payable to  Jerry Powell’s Basketball Results Clinic.

Panthers Blast Past Lake George/Hadley-Luzerne, 41 – 0

On a drizzly Friday evening, the Hoosick Falls Panthers Football team completely dominated Lake George / Hadley-Luzerne. The Panthers took control, once again, on the first offensive play of the game. Quarterback Garrett Wright took the snap and lofted a perfectly thrown pass to Austin Pitt, who was racing down the sideline. Pitt continued down the sideline until he was in the end zone. The 55 yard play gave the Panthers a 6 – 0 lead seconds into the game, and they would never look back.

Panther Field Hockey Wins Three

HF 1                           Corinth 0

Last Friday the Lady Panther field hockey team made the long ride to play the Corinth Warriors. In a hard fought game the Panthers made the ride home a little easier by coming home with a 1 – 0 win over the Warriors. Liz Ryan, on an assist from Lillian Hickey, scored the only goal of the game on a corner at the 11:21 mark of the first half. Cassie Sherman had 2 saves on the day. The Panthers had eight shots on goal for Corinth goalie Kaylee Mosher to defend.

HFCS Boys Soccer Gets A Win The Day After The Game Was Played

Thursday afternoon, September 11, at DeLurey Field the Hoosick Falls Panthers boys soccer team met the Mechanicville Red Raiders. Although the game was played on Thursday, the Panthers were not the winners until Friday.

HFCS Girls Soccer Wins Two

The Lady Panther soccer team upped its record to 3 – 0 in league play and 4 – 1 overall with two wins over the past week. The Ladies topped Mechanicville 3 – 1 last Friday, and Tuesday the team traveled down to Hoosic Valley and proceeded to paste the Indians 6 – 0.

HFCS Golfers Split

The Panther golfers keep mowing their opponents down with the regular season rapidly coming to an end. This week the Panther Five took five of the five points available.

The Cambridge Indians came to Hoosick Falls last Thursday in what was a home match for both teams as Cambridge also uses the Hoosick Falls Country Club as its home. The Panthers weren’t very friendly neighbors as they grabbed all the points, recording a 5 – 0 win. Eric Bloomer, shooting a 40, was the medalist.

Eric Bloomer won against Daniel Genesis (4 – 3), Andrew Hoag won against Gabriel Evans (5 – 3), Ryan Bloomer won against Brandon Taber (2 – 1), Jake Nolan won against Ethanol Jessie (2 up) and Conner Smith won against Nathaniel Woodcock (3 – 1). Smith shot his best score ever during a match, 44.

On Wednesday, the team played Greenwich at the HFCC. The last time these two teams met the Witches came away with all five points. Andrew Hoag and Jake Nolan won their matches, but the Panthers lost the overall match, 2 – 3.

The Panthers are now 10 – 2.

On Thursday, September 18, Granville will visit Hoosick Falls to play at 4 pm. In the regular season final game, the Panthers travel to Stillwater on Friday, September 19, game time is 4 pm. League championships are scheduled to be held Wednesday, October 1.

BCS Boys Soccer Wrap Up

In the boys varsity soccer game on Friday, September 12, New Lebanon’s Justin Bingham scored on a misplayed ball by a Berlin defender to take a 1 to 0 lead at the half. Late in the second half Zack Spaniol scored on a corner kick from Ryan Shumway to tie the game at 1. Both teams had numerous chances in overtime, but neither team could get a lucky bounce. New Lebanon keeper Evan Burgess had 14 saves. Berlin goalie Jackson Burhans had 12 saves There were no cards in the game.

BCS 3       Doane Stuart 2

On Tuesday, September 16, the boys varsity soccer team trailed 2 to 0 early in the first half. Then Jackson Burhans and Colin Love came into the game to provide some spark and give the boys soccer team a 3 to 2 win over Doane Stuart.

Ethan Mars scored two goals in the first half to tie the game at half time on an assist from Matt Rokjer and Keel Krumenacker. Colin Love made 6 saves in goal while Jackson Burhans played a strong midfield game.

In the second half Krumenacker scored the game winning goal on an assist from Matt Rokjer.

Youth Bowling Leagues Starting

Youth Bowling Leagues will be starting this Saturday at the Barbecue Recreation lanes for ages 5 to 21 years old.  Ages 12 to 21 should arrive by 8:15 am Saturday, September 20, and ages 5 to 11 should arrive at 10:15 am.
