Fall Foliage Discovery Hike At Dyken Pond Center

Join us on September 27 from 1:30 to 3:30 pm for a fun, easy hike on the trails of Dyken Pond Environmental Education Center. Come experience the famous Northeast foliage first hand. Learn how trees and animals not only survive but thrive in the cold winter months and how you can utilize leaves to their full potential in your own yard. This event is free of charge and is for all ages. Meet at the parking lot of the Center.

The Dyken Pond Center, located at 475 Dyken Pond Road, Cropseyville, is a Rensselaer County Park open daily during daylight hours for hiking, fishing and non-motor boating. Panthers Pull Away to Win At The Dome, 48 – 21

The Hoosick Falls Central Panthers opened their season last Sunday in the Syracuse Carrier Dome against the Owego Indians. In opening day fashion, the Panthers had their ups and downs, their dominating moments and moments of lackluster play. Individual players had their great plays and plays that weren’t so great. They won the game going away, which put a 1 in the W column, and that is what counts most at the end of the season.

BCS Boys Varsity Soccer Wins New Lebanon Tournament

The BCS Boys Varsity Soccer team defeated St. Joe’s of Pittsfield, MA, 3 to 1 in the New Lebanon Tournament. Keel Krumenacker, Matt Montero and Zach Spaniol scored a goal apiece. Ryan Willis and Ethan Mars each had an assist. Jackson Burhans had 10 saves in goal backed by the strong defensive play of Dan Bentley, Matt Rokjer, Seiji Akera and Calvin Mars.

Panthers Dominate HFCS Field Hockey Tourney

The Lady Panthers weren’t very gracious hostesses at their tournament. They did not allow their opponents to score. In the championship game, the Panthers barely allowed the opponent to step on the Panther end of the field.

Panther Golfers Roll On

The HFCS Panther golf team rolled to two victories over the past week, defeating Tamarac and Mechanicville on the opponents’ home links.

Last Thursday, the Panthers defeated Tamarac 5 – 0. Senior Eric Bloomer shot a 41, making him the medalist and earning him his sixth sectional score. Andrew Hoag, Jake Nolan, Connor Smith and Hayden Smith all won their matches. Nolan also shot his second sectional score, a 44.

On Tuesday the team traveled to Mechanicville and came home with a 3½ to 1½ victory. Hoag shot a 43, earning him medalist for the match. Eric Bloomer, Nolan and Hayden Smith all tied their opponents. Hoag and Conner Smith earned wins.

This week the Panthers play Cambridge at HFCC on Thursday, September 11 and host Greenwich September 17. Matches begin at 4 pm.

New Lebanon Girls Varsity Volleyball Loses To St. Joe’s

St. Joseph’s of Pittsfield, MA, defeated the New Lebanon Central School Girls Volleyball team in four sets 25-15, 13-25, 25-22, 25-14.

The Crusaders were led by Leanne Hamilton who had 4 aces and 7 kills, Ilysaa Creamer who had 6 aces and 6 kills and Pookie Vongprommool who had 4 kills.

New Lebanon had strong games from Jeanie Smith who had 13 aces and 10 digs and Caitlyn Williams who had 2 aces and 8 digs.
