Last Friday, the Lady Panther soccer team traveled to Hoosic Valley. The Panthers outscored the Indians 4 – 3 to bring home a win. Jordyn Haynes put 2 goals in the net. Kolumbia Cook and Casie Mann each scored once. Hannah Fricke had nine saves in goal. The Hoosic Valley goalie had 14 saves.
Monday afternoon, Mt. Anthony visited Delurey Field to play the Ladies. The hosts came away with a 4 – 1 victory. Rachel Pine and Jordyn Haynes each scored two goals for the Panthers. Hannah Fricke had seven stops in goal.

HF Field Hockey Is Undefeated

Monday afternoon a fine Hoosick Falls field hockey team played the Salem Generals on the HFCS field. Caytlyn Springer scored two goals, and Liz Ryan, Carsen Williams, Olivia Schneider and Ally Burdick each scored once to beat the Generals 6 – 0. The Salem goalie had her hands full the entire game, fending off 23 shots. Panther goalie Ashley St. Onge showed up for work, but the team gave her the day off, as she didn’t have to make any saves.
On Wednesday the team faced Schuylerville on the Black Horses’ beautiful turf field. The Panthers came away with a 7 – 0 win. Caytlyn Springer scored three goals, Liz Ryan two, Ally Burdick and Ashley St. Onge each had one.
This Friday, October 4, the team faces Greenwich at HFCS at 4:15 pm. On Wednesday, October 9, Greenwich comes to visit HFCS for a 4:15 pm start.

12, Saturday- Treasure Hunt in the Wild Woods at 10:30 am. Team Deer and Team Coyote will each explore the Wild Woods and Shaver Pond Trail, looking for clues and signs of animals. 17, Thursday – Nearly Full Moon Hike at 6 pm. Meets at Shaver Pond Center at 194 Shaver Pond Road. Enjoy a hike around Shaver Pond under the light of the nearly full moon! It will rise early enough to light our way along the trail. Pre-registration required: 279-1155.
20, Sunday – Fleet Feet 10k Trail Race at 8 am. Partial proceeds to benefit the Natural Heritage Trust. To register, stop by the park office for brochure or a local Fleet Feet store.
25, Friday- Star Watch at GLSP at 7:30 pm. Join with members of the Albany Area Astronomers and come explore the night sky. Meets at Deerfield. Rain date: Saturday, 10/28. Call 658-9144 to confirm.
Local 4-H Participation In The Schaghticoke Fair

Labor Day to many in the area is synonymous with the Great Schaghticoke Fair. This couldn’t be truer for roughly 300 Rensselaer County 4-H members who participate at the Fair. 4-H is much more than cows and cookies, even though we see plenty of those at the fair. 4-H is all about growing kids!

Granville Tests Panthers? 38 – 6

It was closer than the score would indicate. Really.
Last Friday the Granville Golden Horde made the trip down Route 22 feeling confident they could play the Hoosick Falls Panthers tough. And they did. They had this quick running back named Hoagland who they felt could gain some big yardage. And he did, too. In an unusual regular season game, it wasn’t until the middle of the fourth quarter that the Panther faithful felt they had a comfortable lead.

HF Boys Soccer Takes Two

Last Friday, September 20, the Panther boys varsity soccer team made the short trip up Route 22 to face the Cambridge Indians. HF defeated the Indians 7 – 0. Leading the scoring was Drew Phillips with 3 goals. Max Haar, Eric Kaufmann, Jeremy St. Onge and Alex LaBarge each scored a goal. Haar also put 3 assists in the books.
