The Berlin boys JV soccer team is off to one of its best starts with 17 team members ranging from eighth to tenth grades. Having a full roster has made it very competitive to get playing time, and the guys have stepped up by practicing hard and getting extra playing experience outside of the regular season. A solid core of returning players has benefited from new players both moving up from the modified team and trying soccer for the first time.

Pioneer Fish And Game Club Annual Banquet

The Pioneer Fish and Game Club celebrated its 67th year with the annual election of officers and banquet at the Club grounds in Potter Hill on Sunday, September 15. A great time was had by about 40 members, their families and guests.
Elected as President was Ed Sukuskas (Peaser), Vice President was Rodd Post, Secretary was Gary Sargood and Treasurer was Dick Ogden.
Dyken Pond Bird Seed Sale
The Dyken Pond 20th Annual Bird Seed Sale is a fundraiser to benefit the Friends of the Dyken Pond Center. Order a premium bag of bird seed while supporting the programs of the Dyken Pond Environmental Education Center. Proceeds from this fundraiser go towards scholarships for children to attend the Summer Nature Camp and land protection efforts. Stock up to last the winter!

Arrangements can also be made for pick-up at the Rensselaer County Government Center on Monday, October 22, or at the Dyken Pond Center.

2, Wednesday – Interpretative Hike & Wander at 4 pm. Join Student Conservation Association Intern Laura Sears to share some of her discoveries along the trail. Pre-registration required: 279-1155.
12, Saturday- Treasure Hunt in the Wild Woods at 10:30 am. Team Deer and Team Coyote will each explore the Wild Woods and Shaver Pond Trail, looking for clues and signs of animals. If you succeed in your explore mission, treasure awaits! $3/person or $10/family of four or more. Space is limited for this popular program so pre-registration required: 279-1155.
Butchering Deer – A Primer For Hunters
Butchering Deer – A Primer For Hunters will be held Saturday, October 12, from 9 am to noon, followed by a grilled venison lunch, at the Old Gray Barn on Route 30, Rupert, VT. Presenters are Chris Saunders, Vermont Fish & Wildlife hunter education coordinator, and Eric Nuse, retired Vermont Fish & Wildlife hunter education coordinator. They will give attendees a hands-on lesson in butchering deer – from skinning, to locating and producing chef-ready cuts, to boning, to packaging for the freezer.
Pre-registration by October 8 is required. The registration fee is $15. Space is limited to 25 people. If there had been a working scoreboard, the Panthers would have lit it up last Friday evening.

Panther Boys Soccer Ties Schuylerville; Beats Greenwich

Neither Hoosick Falls nor Schuylerville could find the net after the first half in their game on Monday at the Hoosick Falls Soccer Complex. So, after 80 minutes of regulation, the teams played two ten minute overtimes.

Panther Golfers Keep Rolling

Two matches rescheduled from last week due to heat and storms have made for a busy week for the Panther golf team.
Monday the team faced Cambridge at home. The Panthers came away with a 4 – 1 win. Winning players were Eric Bloomer, Andrew Hoag, Justin Lynch and Will Kennedy. Andrew Hoag shot a 42 to qualify to play at the Ballston Spa Country Club for Sectionals. Eric Bloomer had already qualified.
