Bennington Battlefield  “Path Through History Weekend”

William B. Sweet, Jr.

Berlin – William B. Sweet, Jr., 81, died peacefully at his home on Friday, June 3, 2016 with his family at his side.  Born in Pittsfield, MA on September 23, 1934, he was the son of the late William B. and Evelyn Huff Sweet, Sr.  Bill was raised in Stephentown and Berlin by his grandparents and was a graduate of Berlin High School.   He was a US Navy veteran of the Korean War serving aboard the carrier, the USS Antietam as a radar operator for the flight squadron. Ashley E. Bentley, 29, a longtime resident of East Poestenkill, died on Sunday June 5, 2016 at Ellis Hospital after being stricken at her residence. Ashley was born in Albany and was the beloved daughter of Alan E. and Gloria Goodermote Bentley of East Poestenkill. Hoosick Falls-Ruth (Pollie) Nowik entered into eternal rest on June 2, 2016.  She died peacefully at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center, surrounded by her children and grandchildren.  Born in Hoosick Falls on January 19, 1927, she was the youngest daughter of the late James and Sara (McGowan) McGarvin.  She was predeceased by seven brothers and sisters. Big Turnout For Hoosick Falls Memorial Day Parade

It Was A Gorgeous, Unexpectedly Sunny Day, Perfect For A Parade!

After the traditional rites and festivities  that included several flag raisings and laying of wreaths, the parade began.
