More Than 100 Firefighters Respond 

To A Blaze In The Grafton Woods

It took more than 100 firefighters from 14 different Rensselaer County departments nearly six hours to extinguish a woods and brush fire burning on state land off Edelmann Lane, mostly in the Town of Grafton near the Pittstown line.  Grafton Chief Jim Goyer said there were no injuries in the Wednesday blaze, which was difficult to fight because of the terrain and lack of water.  Overall, Goyer estimates the amount of land consumed by the fire to be about 14 acres. The northern end of Church Street in Hoosick Falls was all abuzz with activity on Monday evening, April 18. Lots of community members and local officials, as well as Hoosick Local Development Corporation (HLDC) committee members were downtown to welcome Xentrix Hair Saloon, Little Sprouts, and Shaw’s Mobile Repair Services. Visitors to the shops were invited to look around, talk to the proprietors, and sample snacks and beverages. Three Candidates Running For Three Seats In Berlin School Board Election

There will be three candidates on the ballot in the Berlin Central School Board election, running for three open seats. Incumbents Rachel Finney and Jeffrey Paine will be running for re-election. Current School Board member Liz Miller declined to run for re-election, and Sherry Bowman-Kluck will be on the ballot running for that seat.
