HF Hands Stillwater First Defeat, 59 – 57, in OT

Alex Mendez scored 24 points, including six in the overtime, to lead the Panthers to a huge win over the previously undefeated Stillwater Warriors Friday evening. The win kept Hoosick Falls in contention for a third straight Wasaren League title, with a little help from a Stillwater opponent. The Panthers are one game behind Stillwater and tied with Mechanicville for second place. Stillwater plays Mechanicville on Feb. 5 at home, the best chance for a Stillwater loss. Lady Panthers Get Two More League Wins

The Lady Panthers held on to first place in the Wasaren League as they soundly defeated two league foes over the past week. The Panthers stand at 10-1 in league play, with a 14-2 record overall. Hoosic Valley is a game behind at 9-2 (L). Tamarac (8-3), Cambridge (7-40, Stillwater (5-6), Mechanicville (3-8), Greenwich (2-9), and Granville (0-11) round out the teams. Petersburgh – Alice L. Trexler, 80, died peacefully Friday, January 15, 2016 at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington, VT with her loving family at her side.  Born in Petersburgh on January 24, 1935 she was the daughter of the late Alfred Moon who raised her.  A lifelong resident of Petersburgh, Alice “lived on the mountain” her whole life.   [Read more…] about Alice L. Panthers Lose At Buzzer

The Lady Panthers had one slip away last Friday when Hoosic Valley sank a shot with less than one second left. The Indians headed back to Schaghticoke with a big win. The league leading Panthers got sloppy in the waning minutes to help the Indians cause. Hoosic Valley scored 13 points off turnovers, almost half their total, to the Pathers seven. HFCS Boys Basketball Wins Two

Hoosic Valley HS,1/15. With the Hoosic Valley suffering through an off year after competing in state championship competition for the past couple years, the Panthers easily defeated the Indians. Both teams started slowly, with HF outscoring the Indians, 5 – 4 in the first quarter. From there, the Panthers outscored the Indians 30 – 12, with the Indians only scoring in double figures in the fourth quarter, after the game was decided. Bowlers Defeat Hoosic Valley And Stillwater

The Hoosick Falls bowling team beat Hoosic Valley by the score of 4-0 on a day when they were honoring their three fine seniors:  Josh McCart, Kyla Day, and Jennifer Sargood at their last home match of the season.  Hoosick Falls had a match total of 3,465 pins to Hoosic Valley’s match total of 2,808 pins.   [Read more…] about HFCS Bowling Team Rolls On
