Friends Of Dyken Pond Seek Grant Application Support

A resolution of support for a grant application sought by the Friends of Dyken Pond was again on the Grafton Town Board’s agenda this month. Last month the matter was referred to the Planning Board for an advisory opinion after some residents spoke against it. The Planning Board recommended that the Town Board support the grant application. Rensselaer County Legislature Hears From SNYFGP At Monthly Meeting

At the monthly Rensselaer County Legislature public comment meeting on Tuesday, July 8, 2015, approximately 20 Rensselaer County citizens spoke concerning their opposition to the proposed NED high-pressure fracked gas pipeline being planned to traverse Albany, Rensselaer, and Schoharie Counties, on its way to the Massachusetts coast, by Texas-based energy giant, Kinder Morgan.  The citizens are part of Stop NY Fracked Gas Pipeline (SNYFGP), an all-volunteer group of concerned Rensselaer County citizens opposed to the proposed Northeast Energy Direct (NED) pipeline. Flag Fundraiser Is Very Successful

The Berlin Town Board held a quiet meeting on July 9 while most of the Town was at the circus. Supervisor Jaeger reported that the new flag pole at the Municipal Complex had been erected, and it “came out nice.” He thanked the Highway Department for the work they did putting up the flag pole and pouring concrete for the base. Revaluation Discussed

Hoosick Town Supervisor Mark Surdam brought up the subject of a Town and Village property revaluation at the Town Board meeting on Monday, July 13. Surdam said the idea had been discussed at the last Hoosick Rising meeting and it is something that should be seriously considered. Laurin Re-Elected HFCS Board President; Helft is VP

At the Hoosick Falls School Board’s Organizational Meeting on July 9, Rick Ferrannini nominated Greg Laurin for another year as President of the School Board, and Laurin was unanimously elected. Because current vice president Rick Ferrannini had made it known that he did not wish to be the Vice-President of the Board this year, Laurin nominated John Helft as VP, and he was unanimously elected. 4-H Teen Council Scholarships
