It is no secret that those who served during the Vietnam era didn’t receive a proper welcome home when they returned from war. The Town of Hoosick Pool will officially open with a brief ribbon cutting ceremony on Saturday, June 20 at noon. For the rest of the day the pool will be open for a “free swim.”
Visit www.hoosickrecreation.com for pool regulations, fees and hours. Season passes can be purchased from the Town Clerk weekdays from 8:30 to noon and 1 to 4 pm.

The Wood Park concert season will open on Wednesday evening June 24 at 7:30 pm with a program by the Stardusters of Hoosck Falls. This “big band” has been performing since its premier in 1975 at a concert at Hoosick Falls Central School. The Stardusters program will feature big band music from all eras. It was Dairy Princess Night at Hoosick Grange on June 10. David Schmidt was in charge of the program, and he introduced the Rensselaer County Dairy Princess, Isabella Wiley.
