Stephentown Texas Hold’em

The Veterans of Stephentown  will hold a Texas Hold’em Tournament on Saturday, October 8, in the Stephentown Fire Hall, located on Grange Hall Road in Stephentown. The doors will open at 5 pm and close at 6 pm. Play begins at 6:15 sharp.
A free buffet will be served at the first break.

Children’s Fall Foliage Hike

The Dyken Pond Environmental Education Center will hold a children’s Fall Foliage Hike on Wednesday, October 5, from 10 to 11 am. Children up to age eight can attend this hike. Bird Seed Sale To Benefit Friends Of The Dyken Pond Center

Bird seed is being offered by the Friends of the Dyken Pond Center this fall as a fundraiser to support programs and activities held at the Dyken Pond Environmental Education Center. This is a one time sale and bird seed must be pre-ordered by Friday, October 7.  There will be a pick-up day on Saturday, October 15 at the Capital Agway located on NY Route 7 in Brunswick from 9 am until 12 noon. John P. Capano Funeral Services

Funeral services for John P. Capano will be held on Saturday, October 1, at 2 pm from the Immaculate Conception Church on Main Street in Hoosick Falls, NY. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary’s Academy through the Mahar Funeral Home, 43 Main Street in Hoosick Falls, NY, 12090. John passed away on August 25 and was the husband of Jeanne (Murphy) Capano of Hoosick Falls.

Ernest E. Niles Sr.

White Creek – Ernest E. Niles Sr., 72, passed away on Wednesday, September 21, 2011, at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington, VT. He had resided on County Rt. 68 in White Creek, NY.
Born on February 27, 1939, in Kingsbury, NY, Ernest was the son of the late Harold W. and Carrie (Olden) Niles Sr. He attended schools in the Kingsbury area. Ernest worked for the Construction Union in Troy, NY, retiring after twenty years. He then worked for the Town of Jackson Highway Department and later the White Creek Highway Department until retiring from there. Ernest enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, woodworking and traveling.

Geri was born in Buffalo, NY, and lived and schooled in Syracuse. She was pre-deceased by her husband of over 71 years, Wilbert (Bill) Spier, in October, 2008.

Hoosick – Charles W. Williams, 99, passed away on Saturday, September 24, 2011, at the Hoosick Falls Health Center in Hoosick Falls, NY, where he had resided the past three years.
Born on September 19, 1912, he was the son of Andrew L. and Elizabeth (McGee) Williams. He was raised by George and Katherine Schuster from the age of five.
