Kiwanis Fall Chicken BBQ

Come join the Hoosick Falls Kiwanis Club for its Chicken BBQ on Tuesday, September 13, at 4:30 pm. A $10 donation gets you a half chicken, potato salad, coleslaw, roll and cake that is always homemade, always great! Take out only at the Hoosick Falls Fire Dept. on Griffin Avenue.

Stephentown Fireman’s Muster And Community Day

The Annual Stephentown Fireman’s Muster and Community Day kicks off at 7 pm on Saturday, September 17, with the Water Polo competition.
On Sunday, September 18, the Parade begins at 11 am followed by the truck events at 1 pm.
Come support your local fire departments as they battle each other in head to head competitions.  There is no charge to come watch the events. The Youth Commission will also have a bouncy-bounce and games for the kids on Sunday.  The parade theme is “Under the Sea.”  Float entries from the community are encouraged.

Letters From A Stephentown Navy Man

Charles F. Chapel was a resident of Stephentown, son of Alice and Stephen Chapel who had come to Stephentown from Rhode Island. On May 2, 1861, he enlisted in the Union Navy for three years at New York City. His rank was Landsman, or what would now be known as a Seaman Recruit.

Grafton – Betty J. Adams, 80, died on Thursday morning, August 18, 2011, at the Hoosick Falls Health Center in Hoosick Falls, NY.
Born in Petersburgh, NY, on March 22, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Leslie and Lena Lackey Miller. She was the wife of the late Walter Adams, who died in 1986, and the late Leon “Red” Schnoop, who died in 1954.

Pit Bulls Rampage In Berlin

Berlin Dog Control Officer Doug Goodermote had a disturbing, grisly tale to tell at Thursday’s Town Board meeting about two separate pit bull attacks that occurred in Town during the last month. One involved a two year old girl who was attacked in her home by the family pet. The other involved a pair of pit bulls that killed one calf and wounded two others at the Mapledale Farm on Greene’s Brook Road.
