More Than 150 Volunteers Help With Hoosick Falls Cleanup

The first Village Clean-up and Community Block Party was a great success according to the Hoosick Area Youth Center & Community Coalition (HAYC3), organizers of the event. HFCS District Budget Passes By Wide Margin

The Hoosick Falls Central School Budget for the 2011-12 school year passed by a vote of 503 to 256. The bus purchase proposition passed by a vote of 500 to 254. Dave Sutton was re-elected to a 3 year term on the School Board with 587 votes. John Helft was re-elected to a 3 year term with 565 votes, and Greg Laurin was elected to a one year term with 499 votes.

Petersburgh Town Board Action – Closing Town Park Temporarily

The Town’s insurer visited the Town Park recently and asked the Town to immediately fix several things there. The circular plastic slide is  broken and needs to be removed; S links on the swings are worn and need to be replaced; sawdust needs to be put down under the swings, and the seats are missing from some of the benches, so the remaining posts need to be removed.

NYS Audit Report On New Lebanon

Dennis Flynn To Speak At Hoosick Falls Memorial Day Event

Dennis Flynn of Stage Road, Buskirk, will be guest speaker at the Hoosick Falls Memorial Day Celebration, following the annual parade on May 30. Flynn served as a staff sergeant in the US Army, Army Reserve and the Army National Guard.

Berlin Memorial Day Service And Parade

The American Legion Post 937 will hold its Annual Memorial Day Service at the Berlin Community Cemetery on Monday, May 30, at 9:30 am.
At 11 am, the Memorial Day Parade will start at Maple Avenue and North Main Street. It will stop at the Veterans Memorial on Plank Road where a service will be given. The Parade will resume going down Main Street to Park Avenue, then along Route 22 to Elm Street, Community Avenue to Park Avenue and finally School Street to the Baptist Cemetery at South East Hollow.

Register For The Townwide Tag Sale

The deadline to register a sale for the Annual Hoosick Townwide Tag Sale is Monday, May 23. Registration forms are available at the Village Clerk’s Office, 26 Main Street, and at the Hoosick Area Youth Center, 115 Church Street. There is a small fee to be on the map.

Hoosick Grange News

Hoosick Grange met on May 11 with Master David Cornell. The Masonic Dinner Committee gave a report on a successful dinner. The Master thanked everyone. During the meeting the Chaplain reported the death of our sister Barbara Baker. The Grange had a memorial service for her and the family.

Hoosick Falls Musicians Selected For The Lions Youth Band

Seven musicians from the Hoosick Falls Central School band were selected to perform with the MD-20 Lions Youth band. This band is selected from all over New York State and the Island of Bermuda. Bermuda is part of the Long Island Lions District.
