Fish Fry Fridays In Brunswick
The Brunswick Lodge of Elks # 2556 will be hosting a fish fry dinner to be held at the lodge on Friday, March 11, March 25 and April 22, from 5:30 to 8 pm. Dinner includes fish fry and roll, French fries, coleslaw, a cup of clam chowder, a small soda, coffee, decaf and tea. A cash bar is available. A kid’s menu of grilled cheese or hot dogs is also an option.

Berlin 7 Day Baptist Church: The Fifties Are Still Nifty

The evening of Friday, February 11, at the Berlin Seventh Day Baptist Church was reminiscent of the 1950s era. The atmosphere was created by a black and white checkered diner complemented with red, high top tables and swivel stools, windows glowing with dancing paper silhouettes and nostalgic items variously placed highlighting the juke box and checked dance floor. Various adults and teen staff were dressed in poodle skirts and saddle shoes, letter sweaters, pedal-pushers with scarves and leather jackets.

Saturday April 7, 1855: Geo P. wife and Sarah O went to Doctor Dickerson’s to have Mary’s tooth pulled but the doctor was not home but he called before night and pulled Mary’s tooth, and this afternoon Colonel Tanner the butcher of New Lebanon called and paid John F. one hundred and seventy dollars for a pair of fat oxen that he bought of his uncle Samuel Beers last fall, and this evening John F. walked to his uncle Beers and paid him for the oxen which was 98 dollars and four dollars interest, and stayed there tonight.

Building Disappears In Hoosick Falls

Traffic was diverted from Classic Street in Hoosick Falls most of Friday, February 18, as the building at Number 48 was torn down. Tractor trailer trucks were allowed through in one lane. All other traffic, from John, Main and lower High Streets had to use upper Classic Street and Wilder Avenue .

HFCS Draft Budget Trims $1 Million And Eliminates 12 Teaching Positions

The Hoosick Falls School District presented a first draft of its budget for the 2011-12 school year at its regular monthly meeting last week. It’s a difficult year because stimulus funds are phasing out and State aid is being cut significantly at the same time.
