Panthers Cruise By Stillwater 62-34

Coach Mike Lilac and the Hoosick Falls boys basketball team hosted Stillwater for the second time this season on Friday night. In the first matchup the Panthers overcame an eight point deficit going into the final quarter and held on for a 63-57 win.  In Hoosick Falls, it was a different story though.

BCS Music And Art Festival

The Berlin Middle/High School is hosting an Art & Music Festival on Wednesday, February 16, from 6 to 8 pm. Hoosick Falls Elementary School Registration For September 2011 Kindergarten Class

Hoosick Falls Elementary School has started the process of creating a registry/mailing list of new students for the September 2011 kindergarten class.
If you have a child who will be five years old by December 1, 2011, please call the Elementary School Office as soon as possible at 686-9492 to ensure that your child’s name is placed on our mailing list.  Registration packets will be mailed out beginning February 14.
Kindergarten screening will occur during the week of June 20.

BCS Annual Clothing/Coat Swap

On February 11 the Berlin Central School District will hold its annual clothing/coat swap from 3 to 8 pm in the Berlin Middle/High School cafeteria, and the public is cordially invited.
As Melissa Putterman Hoffman, one of the swap’s organizers, explained, “All families, staff and community members in the Berlin Central School District are invited to donate clothing, and all families in the district are also invited to take whatever they need from the clothing collection.”

A Program On Morgan’s Artillery

John (Mac) McEvilly will present a program on Morgan’s Artillery, a local Civil War re-enactment group, to the Stephentown Historical Society on Monday, February 7, at 7:30 pm. The meeting will be at the Stephentown Heritage Center on Garfield Road, Stephentown. It is free and open to the public. Free Appliance Drop Off At Columbia County Waste Stations

New Lebanon Town Clerk Colleen Teal announced that Columbia County solid waste stations will accept appliances and metal during the months of February and March free of charge.
Metal appliances and items will be accepted at all solid waste stations with the exception of refrigerators, freezers, dehumidifiers, water coolers and air conditioners which must be taken to the Greenport Transfer Station due to EPA regulations.

Veterans of Stephentown Texas Hold’em

The Veterans of Stephentown  will hold a Texas Hold’em Tournament on Saturday, February 12, in the Stephentown Fire Hall, located on Grange Hall Road in Stephentown. The doors will open at 5 pm and close at 6 pm. Play begins at 6:15 sharp.

Grafton Library Holds FAFSA Workshop

The Grafton Community Library will be holding a FAFSA Workshop on Saturday, February 19, from 10 am to 12 pm.  Grafton resident Lisa Dooley, Student Loan Coordinator and Financial Aid Counselor at the Sage Colleges in Troy, will be on hand to assist parents in filling out the online FAFSA forms, which are required for college students who wish to apply for financial aid for college.  She will also answer general questions about the process of choosing a college and searching for financial aid. Registration is not required, but if you know you will be attending, please contact the Library at 279-0580 or director@graftoncommunitylibrary.org.
