Darrow School’s Coffeehouse Features Blues Musician

As part of its diverse music programming, Darrow School will present Coffeehouse, an evening of acoustic music, poetry, comedy and spoken word on Friday, January 28, starting at 8:30 pm. Stephentown – Calvin B. Atwater, 84, of Presbyterian Hill Road, Stephentown, NY, died on Thursday, January 20, 2011, at his home. He was surrounded by his family who loved him dearly. Hoosick – William F. “Ike” Cipperly Sr., 93, passed away on Saturday, January 22, 2011, at the Centers for Living & Rehabilitation in Bennington, VT. He had resided on William Cipperly Road in Breese Hollow, Hoosick, NY. He was the husband of the late Pauline (Gelinas) Cipperly, who died on March 1, 1982. William and Pauline were married in Toms River, NJ, in 1943.

Edward E. LeBarron

Hoosick – Edward E. LeBarron, 72, passed away on Wednesday, January 19, 2011, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Troy, NY. He had resided in Clifton Park, NY, with his wife Uma (Gomes) LeBarron.
Edward was born on August 14, 1938, at the family residence in Potter Hill, Hoosick, NY. He was the son of the late Leverette and Margaret (Prentess) LeBarron. Edward attended schools in the Town of Hoosick until entering the United States Air Force in 1955. He served until 1959. Edward has been retired for several years.

Hoosick Falls – Edward F. Loomis, 89, passed away on Monday, January 24, 2011, at the Vermont Veterans Home in Bennington, VT. He was the husband of the late Marie (Kincaid) Loomis who died in 2005. Edward and Marie were married on April 4, 1942.

He had resided on Wilson Hill Road in Hoosick, NY, with his wife Marjorie (Pine) Herrington. Sherm loved his wife Marjorie, his wife of 60 years, as celebrated on September 9, 2010, with all his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Tuesday: This forenoon the constable Elisha Bennet and son Jackson came to my house and took dinner with us, he came to see if John Merrils was moving out of our house that is near James M. Glass’s and said Bennet found that John Merrils moved out while he was at my house and Bennet returned home without any further ceremony. I learned that said John Merrils and family is moved into our house  that Edgar Brown lives in with him.

Controversial Appointment To The Berlin Town Board

At its regular meeting on January 13 the Berlin Town Board appointed Becky Giumarra to fill the seat vacated by Carl Greene on December 31. Her term will run until December 31 of this year. Giumarra was nominated by Board Member Sheila Hewitt, who along with Board Members James Saunders and Richard von Schilgen voted for her appointment. Town Supervisor Robert Jaeger voted against her appointment.
