Petersburgh Library News

The Petersburgh Public Library book discussion group will be meeting on Tuesday, January 25, at 7:30 pm to discuss Old Filth by Jane Gaardam.  Everyone is invited to attend.  Copies of the book are available at the Library.
Story Hour
Pre-school story hour meets Tuesday mornings at 10 am.  Children are invited to join us for stories, activities, crafts and snacks.  In the event of inclement weather when school is delayed or closed story hour does not meet.

St. Mary’s Academy Ham Dinner

St. Mary’s Academy will be hosting another one of its fantastic Friday night dinners on Friday, January 7, (snow date January 8).  Dinner includes spiral baked ham, potatoes, vegetable, coffee and dessert.  Dinner will be served in the St. Mary’s Academy gym from 5 to 7 pm (or until supplies last).  Dinners cost $10 for adults, $5 for kids 10 and under.
Take-out is available, or join us in the gym for dinner.  All are welcome, we even have a coloring area for kids. Take the night off and let us cook and clean up. For more information, please call 518-686-4314 ext. 202.

TVCG Meeting

The January meeting of the Taconic Valley Community Group (TVCG), is scheduled for Thursday, January 13, at 12:30 pm at the Immaculate Conception Church Hall, Route 20, New Lebanon. The program will feature Jim Shake of the American Red Cross discussing the blood drive that TVCG will host on Thursday, February 10, at the Immaculate Conception Church Hall. PVMCC News

PVMCC is kicking off the New Year with a burst of activity.
On weekdays from 7 to 9 am is the Veterans Café, with good coffee, conversation and walking to get the energy flowing for the day. Just remember we are not there if there is no school.
Hours for yoga sessions, a nice relaxing stretch for the body, are posted in the window at PVMCC.
Zumba classes are for getting the calories to burn and pumping up your energy with its lively music. Hours are posted in the window at PVMCC.

Hoosick Falls Health Center, Inc. Annual Meeting Notice

The Annual Meeting of the Hoosick Falls Health Center, Inc., for the purpose of electing a Board of Directors and to transact any other business as may properly come before it, will be held on Wednesday, January 19, 2011 at 7 pm at the Health Center, 21 Danforth Street, Hoosick Falls, NY.
Any person who has contributed to the Health Center in the previous year is entitled to be present and to vote.
The Hoosick Falls Health Center provides care to anyone who can benefit from its services regardless of race, creed, color, national origin, blindness, sexual orientation, handicap or source of payment.

St. Mary’s Academy Student Madison Woodley Receives Scholarship

St. Mary’s Academy in Hoosick Falls is proud to announce that eighth-grader Madison Woodley has been awarded a scholarship to attend Catholic Central High School in Troy for four years beginning with the 2011-2012 school year.  There were 13 students who received this honor based on academic performance on CCHS’ placement exam. Madison is an active member of 4H and participates in both soccer and basketball at St. Mary’s. Madison is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Woodley of Petersburgh.

Holiday Raffle Winners Announced

To help encourage local shopping, the Hoosick Area Youth Center & Community Coalition organized a shopping incentive this season. Anyone who spent $5 or more at a participating business on Friday, December 10, (the night of the lighted Christmas Parade and visit from Santa) was eligible to enter a free drawing for gift certificates to be spent locally.
The winners were Ann Bornt ($50), Joan O’Neil ($25) and Jo Centanni ($25). All three winners are from Hoosick Falls. Congratulations!

Texas Hold’em

The Veterans of Stephentown will hold a Texas Hold’em Tournament on Saturday, January 15, in the Stephentown Fire Hall, located on Grange Hall Road in Stephentown. The doors will open at 5 pm and close at 6 pm. Play begins at 6:15 sharp.
