The Lebanon Valley Historical Society Receives Grant

The Lebanon Valley Historical Society (LVHS), New Lebanon, has received a $3,485 grant for Phase 1 of a project to document the demise of the Tilden Pharmaceutical Company in New Lebanon. The grant was awarded by the Documentary Heritage Program of the New York State Education Department. The LVHS was one of eight entities in New York State to receive funding.

Invest In Hoosick’s Youth

The Hoosick Area Youth Center & Community Coalition (HAYC3) is seeking support from the community to continue its programming for youth and families. Although HAYC3 received a large federal grant this year, those funds are restricted and cannot be used for recreation programs, after school activities or basic facility needs, such as heat, electricity and maintenance. Community investment is needed to keep the Center operating at its current capacity.

Krista Rae Burdick and Thomas McNally, Jr. were united in marriage on Saturday, October, 23, 2010, at the Immaculate Conception Church in Hoosick Falls. The two o’clock pm ceremony was performed by Reverend James Mackey, cousin of the groom.
The Bride was attended by Elizabeth Dunham, as Matron of Honor. Bridesmaids included friends Sarah Shufon and Bettina Hamm. The Flower Girl was Aleah Stowell, godchild of the bride.

Lisolette Jones And Mark Driscoll To Be Wed

Lisolette Jones and Mark Driscoll of Hoosick Falls are pleased to announce their wedding engagement.
Both the bride and groom are 2005 graduates of Hoosick Falls Central School and 2007 graduates of Hudson Valley Community College. Lisolette Jones, daughter of Taunia Haner, currently works in retail and started her own business, Opal Photography, in 2009. Mark, son of Mary and Mark Driscoll, also of Hoosick Falls, works in retail at the Bennington Radio Shack.

Elizabeth Ruddy Graduates From Basic Training

Air Force Airman Elizabeth A. Ruddy graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.
The airman completed an intensive, eight week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness and basic warfare principles and skills.

Berlin Volunteer Fire Department Breakfast

The Berlin Volunteer Fire Department will be holding a pancake breakfast this Sunday, December 19, from 7 to 11 am.  All proceeds from this breakfast will benefit the Berlin Central School Class of 2014. The prices are $8 for adults, $4 for children 5-12 with children under five eating for free and $25 for families of five or more. The menu will include pancakes, sausage, bacon, toast, eggs and French toast. Members of the class will be on hand to take orders and serve the food. There may also be a visit from Santa Claus with photo opportunities.

Monte Carlo Night

There will be a Monte Carlo Night on New Year’s Eve at the Brunswick Elks Lodge #2556 from 6 pm to 1 am. The cost is $30 per person, $55 per couple. There will be a buffet dinner, dessert and a continental breakfast. Contact Joe or Cindy for reservations by December 24 at 233-7496.

Berlin – Katherine Ruth Graves Wells, 85, of Hilltop Road, Berlin, NY, died on Friday, December 10, 2010, at her residence under the care of Community Hospice of Rensselaer County.
Born in Albany, NY, on July 3, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Reuben and Alice Palmer Graves. She was the devoted wife of the late Robert F. Wells, who died on October 22, 1968. They were married in the Petersburgh Methodist Church on July 7, 1945. [Read more…] about Katherine R. Wells

Hoosick Falls – Joseph Robert (Jake/Bobby) Morin, 77, passed on to be with his beloved father and mother on Monday, December 13, 2010. Born on November 11, 1933, in Bennington, VT, he lived most of his life in Hoosick Falls, NY. He graduated from St. Mary’s Academy, Class of 1951. He was the son of the late Gerard Morin Sr. and Mary (Powers) Morin.

Stephentown – Linda Catherine (Gerstel) Barry, died Tuesday, December 14, 2010, at the Easton Nursing Center in Easton, PA, where she was cared for during a long illness. She is the wife of Paul Douglass Barry.  They were married 46 years in June and had three children and two grandchildren.
