Jane Vogler

Hoosick Falls – Jane Vogler, 81, died on Tuesday, February 2, 2010, at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington, VT. Jane was the wife of Charles “Ray” Vogler and a resident of the Hoosick Falls Health Center for several years. Jane and Ray were married on July 14, 1951.

Cambridge – Joan Marie Hunt, 73, a resident of County Route 103 in Cambridge, NY, died Saturday, January 30, 2010 at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington, VT, following a brief illness. Mrs. Hunt was born at home in Buskirk, NY, on July 22, 1936, she was the daughter of Harry J. and Addie (Barnhart) Hunt. She grew up on Hunt Road in Buskirk and attended local schools in Buskirk and Johnsonville, NY.

Petersburgh Planning Board Takes Two Matters To Court

Brian O’Donovan came before the Petersburgh Planning Board on December 28 with an application for site plan review for a shaving mill he operates next to his gravel mining operation on Church Hollow Road. Hoosick Veterans Memorial Wall To Be Updated

Ed O’Malley was a WW II Army veteran from Hoosick Falls. More than once he told people he wished veterans of his era had a bronze plaque in Wood Park like the WW I veterans have. It’s too late for Ed and many of his comrades to see such plaques. Age is catching up with the 16 million World War II veterans, and they are passing on at a rate of a thousand a day. Berlin ZBA Discusses Cherry Plain Cell Tower Proposal

On January 21 at the Berlin Town Hall, an engineer, Chris Ciolfi from Mariner Tower and Berlin Zoning Board of Appeals members discussed Mariner Tower’s application to construct a 150 foot cellular telephone tower in Cherry Plain. Town Of Hoosick Rescue Squad Installs Officers For 2010

On Sunday, January 17, the Town of Hoosick Rescue Squad held its annual installation dinner and awarded service certificates. Alan Bornt, 25 year Chief of the North Hoosick Fire Department, the Installation Officer, placed into office the following Squad Officers: President – Bill Gaillard, Vice President – Deb Lohnes, Secretary – Georgianna Parker, Accounts Receivable – Rose Ann Miller, Accounts Payable – Sue Eddy and Captain – Rita Kittel. Board members installed included Carol Hanselman and John May. To conserve funds the event was held in quarters for active members and catered by Jean’s Place.

HFCS Raises Senior Exemption Income Limits

New Lebanon Officials Support Zoning Re-Write

Part of New Lebanon’s comprehensive plan is to preserve the luster of its small town atmosphere. Accordingly, Town officials are hoping to establish new zoning laws, which are designed to help preserve natural resources, farmland and scenic views.
