St. Mary’s Events Celebrate Catholic Schools Week

St. Mary’s Academy planned many events to celebrate Catholic Schools Week. The kick-off celebration was the well attended Spaghetti Dinner and Talent Show on Saturday, January 30. Texas Hold’em

The Stephentown Fire Department will sponsor a Texas Hold’em Tournament on Saturday, March 6, in the Stephentown Fire Hall, located on Grange Hall Road in Stephentown. The doors will open at 5 pm and close at 6 pm. Play begins at 6:15 sharp.

Jeremy J. Healy Mobilized

Army Reserve Sgt. Jeremy J. Healy has been mobilized and activated at Fort Dix, NJ, in preparation for deployment to serve in support of either Operation Iraqi Freedom or Enduring Freedom.  The soldier is a member of the 304th Transportation Command based in Springfield, MA.

Nicole Killeen On Sage College All-Academic Team

The Sage Colleges Department of Athletics and recreation has announced the Fall 2009 All-Academic Team. Only full time students who participate in intercollegiate fall sports are eligible  for the team. The All- Academic Team consists of the highest semester GPAs of student athletes.
Nicole Killeen, a soccer player, topped the list with a GPA of 4.0. She is the daughter of Kim  Killeen of Petersburgh.

Lisa Dooley On Sage College Dean’s List

Lisa Dooley from Cropseyville has been placed on the Dean’s Honor List for the Fall 2009 Semester at Sage College of Albany. Dean’s Honor List students obtain a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.30 after completing a course load of 12 credit hours or more and receiving no letter grade below a C.

Dolan On SUNY Cortland Dean’s List

Andrew Dolan, a Kinesiology: Fitness Development major, has been named to the Fall 2009 semester Dean’s List at SUNY College at Cortland. Honorees must earn a grade point average of 3.3 or higher on a scale of 4.0 while completing 12 or more credit hours of classes during the semester.
Dolan  is the son of Warren and Toni Dolan of Grafton and a 2007 graduate of Berlin Jr./Sr. High School.

Albany-Tula Alliance Announces Student Essay Contest

High school students in the Capital Region will have an opportunity to win a trip to Russia for two weeks this summer through an essay contest sponsored by the Albany-Tula Alliance. Students aged 16 to 18 who wish to compete will be asked to write a 1,500 word essay identifying and discussing an issue that Presidents Medvedev and Obama can work on together that will improve the lives of both Russians and Americans in terms of knowledge, resources and trust. Berta Burr Paintings On Display In Manchester, VT
