Rhiannon M. Ledwell Named To Colby College Dean’s List

Rhiannon M. Ledwell, a junior at Colby College in Waterville, ME, was named to the Dean’s List for her outstanding academic achievement during the spring semester of the 2008-09 year. Ledwell, the daughter of Michelle Ledwell of Hoosick Falls, is majoring in music. She attended Hoosick Falls Central School.
Students whose grade point averages are in the top 30 percent are named to the Dean’s List.

Area Students On College of Saint Rose Spring 2009 Dean’s List

Tristin Crawford, a resident of Berlin, and  Madalyn Parnas, a resident of Stephentown, are among 750 students named to the Dean’s List for Spring 2009 at The College of Saint Rose in Albany.
Full-time students who complete a minimum of 12 credit hours and achieve a semester grade point average of at least 3.5 with no grades of D, F, Incomplete of Pass/Fail are eligible for inclusion on the Dean’s List.

Area Students Honored For Academics At SUNY Canton

SUNY Canton President Joseph L. Kennedy and the College’s deans have released the honor roll for the Spring 2009 Semester.
Rebecca A. Fischer of Petersburgh, made President’s List. Fischer is a Veterinary Science Technology major who is a 2007 graduate of Berlin Central High School.
Tyler J. Purdy of Stephentown, made Dean’s List. Purdy is a Civil Engineering Technology major who is a 2007 graduate of Berlin Central High School.

Berlin Lumber Files Tax Case Against Berlin

About halfway through the Town of Berlin regular meeting on Thursday, August 13, the Board voted to go into executive session to discuss “a legal matter.” When they emerged 17 minutes later they voted unanimously to hire the Pattison, Sampson, Ginsberg & Griffin Law Firm of Troy to handle a tax certiorari suit that had been filed against the Town. Stephentown Becomes A Windmill Park

Sometime in the next few weeks a parade of heavy trucks carrying parts for giant wind turbines will start moving into Stephentown. The turbines are ultimately headed for Brodie Mountain in neighboring Hancock, MA, but pending moving them up the mountain for installation, the parts, including towers, blades, nacelles and hubs will be parked in Neil Gardner’s field.
