St. Patrick’s Day Craft – Kids of all ages are welcome on Saturday, March 14, at 2 pm for some stories and a craft project as we get ready for St. Patrick’s Day.

Toddler/Preschool Story Time – Join us for stories, songs and an art project each Wednesday at 10 am led by Rebekkah Corbett, a local educator. 

Sunday Classics Film Series – showcasing classic films in black and white and color that are suitable for all ages.  Join us for popcorn and refreshments as we watch some of the best films from the past. This month’s film is High Noon starring Gary Cooper and Grace Kelly, on Sunday, March 15 at 2 pm in the Library Community Room.

Tween Night – Come join us for our monthly Tween Night for 10-14 year olds.  This month will feature Guitar Hero, board games, pizza and refreshments. Bring your friends on Friday, March 20, at 6:30 .

Twilight Party for Teens – Bring your friends on Saturday, March 21 at 8 PM to view the DVD release of Twilight, starring Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson.  

All events are free and open to the public.  Call the Stephentown Memorial Library, 472 Route 43, Stephentown at 518-733-5750 for information.

Teens are invited to join us for this movie on our big screen, prizes and trivia.   For 9-12 grade students.  Refreshments will be served.  

Teaching Emotional Intelligence to Children – Mo Therese Hannah, Ph.D., a Professor of Psychology at Siena College in Loudonville, NY, will explain the EQ program and how it can help your child. The EQ program encourages inclusion, tolerance of differences and empathy and discourages peer rejection. Join us on Tuesday, March 24 at 7 PM for this informative parenting program. This program is made possible by a Family Literacy Service grant from New York State Library, New York State Education Department.

Pajama Storytime – Wear your pj’s and bring your favorite stuffed animal, along with a parent or caregiver.  We will listen to stories and have some laughs! Join us Thursday, March 26 at 6:30 PM for some family fun!  We will have a special guest reader from Stephentown Elementary School.

SML Unplugged – Gather you singers, songwriters, musicians and poets! Artists of all ages are welcome to join our monthly Open Mic event on Sunday, March 29 at 1 PM. Show off your talents or come to listen.

Bingo for Kids

Monday, March 23, at 2 pm. Celebrate winter with cookies, juice and prizes! For ages 5-12.

Film Night

Friday, March 27, at 6:30 pm. Come enjoy a free showing of a current film for the whole family. Call for title.

Games Night For Teens And Tweens

Tuesday, March 31, at 6 pm. Bring your games and your appetite (pizza provided!).  We’ll also provide a Nintendo Wii, Rock Band 2 Wii Sports, DDR and Bee Movie Game. Feel free to bring board games as well.

Tales for Tots Story Hour – Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m. Story hour includes crafts, songs, and movement activities.

Hug-A-Bye Babies – Thursdays at 11:00 a.m. Age appropriate stories, songs, and movement activities for our youngest patrons and their parents.

For further information on any of these programs, please call the New Lebanon Library (518) 794-8844.  All are welcome to these events.  The library is located at 550 State Route 20, 1/4 mile north of the yellow blinking light at the intersection of Routes 20/22.

PVMCC News

PVMCC is pleased to announce an award of $750 from the Stewart’s Holiday Match Grant to fund the purchase of  teen recreation equipment. The popular monthly Teen Night Program will resume again on April 24.

Stephentown Historical Society Meeting Is Rescheduled Again

The talk by M.E. Kemp, writer of historical mysteries, on Salem, Massachusetts, in 1692 to the Stephentown Historical Society has been rescheduled a second time to Monday, March 16, because of weather. The meeting is at 7:30 pm at the Heritage Center on Garfield Road in Stephentown. It is free and open to the public. The building is handicapped accessible. For directions, telephone 518-733-5675.

Girl Scout Mardi Gras Masquerade Ball

The Girl Scout Mardi Gras Masquerade Ball will provide an evening of dancing for the whole family. The Ball is Saturday, March 28, from 7 to 10 pm at the Walter B. Howard Elementary School in West Lebanon. Semiformal or formal attire is required.

Tickets, which cost $5, are available at Angel’s Trumpet and at the Stephentown Memorial Library.

Final Shatford Little League Registration

The Shatford Little League will be holding its final registration on Saturday, March 21, from 10 am to noon at Shatford Park in New Lebanon. Children ages 5 to 16 who live within the Shatford Little League boundaries in Eastern Rensselaer and Eastern Columbia Counties are eligible to enroll to play Shatford Little League Baseball.

Stephentown – Richard Frederick Brown, 64, a lifelong resident of Stephentown, NY, died on Sunday, March 8, 2009, at the Cancer Treatment Center of America in Philadelphia, PA, due to complications from pancreatic cancer.
