Friday March 16, 1851: This evening John F. rode up to Hiram Newton’s and got our syringe for Frederick Russel, for his son Franklin is dangerous sick and tonight my two daughters and son John F. stayed to said Russel’s.

Saturday: This morning Franklin Russell died about four o’clock. I got there a few minutes after he died. Today Geo P. and Jane Wylie rode to Lebanon store to get grave clothes and tonight Geo P. watched to Mr. Russel’s. This afternoon I and John F. got a load of wood from off the hill.

Sunday: I and all my family went to the funeral of John F. Russell to the house of Mr. John Russell, Elder Nathaniel Sweet preached.

Monday: Today Westalo Rodgers worked for me to put down the kitchen floor and I worked with him. John drew manure and this afternoon he got manure on the Widow Wylie’s farm.

Tuesday: I worked with Westalo Rodgers putting down kitchen floor. Today John F. went to Hancock and carried corn in the ear for Geo P. from the widow Freelove Wylie’s and left to be ground. Today Allen Spencer was shot by accident by his son shooting rats. He died instantly.

Wednesday: I worked with Westalo Rodgers at the kitchen and stoop and repairing the doors, and tonight I paid said Rodgers for his three days works three dollars and 37 cents and this forenoon John F. went to Lebanon to mill for Alexander Celinbaum in the way of changing works and he ditched for us this afternoon. This forenoon A. Celinbaum drew five wagonloads of my manure on his garden with our team.

Thursday: I drew stone to fill into a blind ditch in the young orchard on the hill and John ditched and Alexander Celinbaum ditched this forenoon in the way of changing works.

Friday: Tonight Geo P. returned home from Windsor engaging apple trees and one Mr. Ford was coming to buy corn and fetched Geo P. and stayed with us tonight with a two horse team. Today Colonel Allen Spencer was buried and the funeral ceremonies were performed by the free Masons or in the Masonic order.
