2015 HFCS Soccer Seasons Come To An End

Hoosick Soccer Complex, 10/23.

After being constantly on the attack and controlling the game, the HF Panthers enjoyed a one goal advantage on the Chatham Panthers at the end of the first half. Ashley Foster, assisted by Angela Gonzalez, gave HF the lead on a corner kick with 11 minutes left in the half.

When the second half began, Chatham, seeded 11, moved the ball to the HF end of the field. Less than two minutes into the second half, a Chatham player lofted a shot from about 35 feet out. The ball floated, and carried by the strong wind, went into the goal just under the crossbar. It was just barely out of reach of HF goalie Jayde Tutenjian. Panthers Fall To Ticonderoga 29 – 19

The Panthers made the long trip to Ticonderoga to play the Sentinels (7-1) last Friday. The Panthers struggled early, then staged a nice second half comeback to make a game of it.

Douglas E. Sherman

Hoosick Falls – Douglas E. Sherman 84, passed away on Monday October 19, 2015 in Bennington, Vermont. He resided on Griffin Avenue in Hoosick Falls. Doug was the son of the late Clayton and Elma (Cushman) Sherman.

Doug was born on January 18, 1931 in Troy, New York. He graduated from Albany Business College and served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. Luella Marie Osterhout

Berlin – Luella Marie (Yerden) Osterhout, 80, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, October 24, 2015 at her home with her beloved husband, William J. Osterhout by her side.

Born on Berlin Mountain on May 21, 1935, Luella was the youngest of four children born to the late Albert and Elsie (Maxon) Yerden.  She was a lifelong Berlin resident and was a 1952 graduate of Berlin High School where she received the Outstanding Business Student Award. Many Contribute To Get Access Project Done

Concrete was poured on Monday October 19 for two projects aimed at making the Petersburgh Town buildings handicapped accessible. Jay Burdick poured a new walkway leading up to the Town Hall, and  a new concrete pad was poured at the entrance to the Veterans Memorial Community Center.
